Bro laughing is what scares me the most. I’m always laughing and smiling. ESPECIALLY at inappropriate times

Step one: don’t listen to any of the women especially if they are “drill sergeants”

Step two: always refer to any woman in uniform as little lady or sweetheart, on occasion “ yes dear”

Step three: only follow the first two steps if you want to rank up quickly

4: don’t talk during chow. When I went to BCT some morons started to talk, and eat slowly. No, I learned quickly to stuff your face cuz you only got 15 min, max. And 5: bring as little as possible. preferably anything that can fit in a book bag and that’s it. Damn near saw people bring small suitcases or 2 bags and had to carry that + all their gear they got during processing and the PX.

I failed at not laughing when I went to basic. The DSs got me everytime I laughed but it was worth it and they had a great time

Tips:
1. Make sure to always call your drill Sargent by their first name
2. And do scream or yell at all or you’ll hurt everyone’s ears😚

I served for a total of 10 years in the United States Army. My first Enlistment was from 1991 to 1994. I re-enlisted again after the 9/11 attacks in 2001 due to the length of time in between my enlistments I had to do basic training a second time. My second time through was literally a fun and humorous experience as well as a shocker due to the changes that had been made by the Army (such as basic training becoming co-ed as opposed to male/female segregation). I used to rile up the "cherries" by taunting the Drill Sergeants
"These 50 push-ups ain't Sh*t Drill Sergeant, you sure you don't want us to do 100?!" Also, being 26 years old my 2nd time through, I was considered an "Old Man" by the 17 and 18 year old which, in retrospect is funny as well. At Graduation from my 2nd Basic Training, I actually had more award and service ribbons on my dress uniform than one of my Drill Sergeants. He actually tried to make me take some off of my uniform (which is against regulations) and THAT was a pissing contest that he had lost, much to his chagrin. Anyways, Good Times and Fond Memories come from that experience; having deployed as a Combat Medic and experiencing the horrors of war, not so much.
