I was watching an NT Wright lecture for school and he made the excellent point that many in the Roman world viewed the emperor Augustus as the Savior of the world like Christ.

Many poets and artists like Ovid and Virgil used this in their work, spreading the idea that Augustus was the emperor meant to bring the world universal peace.

However, this isn't a contradiction it was a tool the early church used to contrast Christ's true and genuine status as the Prince of Peace. The titles of Christ don't need to necessarily be original to Christianity they just need to be the ultimate example.

Christ led in grace and truth and we are still experiencing the effects of his life, death, and resurrection 2, 000 years later. The peace of Augustus and other like minded rulers and spiritual leaders pale in comparison to that kind of universal influence.
