These people are sooo random! Another fun thing though is that most web-based text editors show the actual link in the bottom left of the screen. Google docs also allows you to preview the link in a small window if you hover over it.

in general, clicking any link isn't malicious in itself if it's an untargeted attack. the number of victims from browser zero-days is very low and that's the only feasible untargeted attack. the danger comes from what could happen when you have the page open. maybe it's a phishing site or something, but at that point, it doesn't matter if you got there through a shortened link or not.

As long as you keep your browser and operating system up to date you dont need to worry about malware from just visting a website. Downloading things is a different story.

Good tip for the younger people who grew up taking them for granted and also those who aren't tech-savy enough to be warry of shortened links.

I know anything can be hidden in those types of links... But your tips are pretty good!
