Did your son use both kindergarten 1 and 2? Thoughts on learning to read vs AAR? Do you think it was a lot of workbooks and writing doing all cle? I'm trying to figure a path for my son who is turning five in October.

My 1st grader is doing CLE Math 1 & CLE Bible 1. We love both! She begs to do them!

My baby boy is also going into 1st and using CLE math, LA, and reading. He did LTR for Kinder. Since reading is a 2 day/week program, we will do Abeka Science and Social Studies on the other 2 days.

Are the first grade level curriculums complimentary?

Looks like a great year! We love CLE Bible! Just so you know, Bible 1 and 2 are each half a year. We completed both in a year.

I really love CLE Math. It really works for my oldest. My youngest thinks so differently so we switched to Math With Confidence. Better fir for her, but I love CLE math and its affordability.

Your picks look great 👍 I have wondered about FIAR -- A LOT!!! But, since we also do Classical Conversations (which we do as a group) I feel it would be too much...for us. But, I read a lot of picture books and books to my kids.

My youngest school age child (and 3rd born) is going to be doing a Kindergarten year (he's five in August). I went super simple. We are going to do "Under The Home's" K-math (which was a great foundation for his second oldest sister...if it's not broke don't fix it). I got him a simple write your ABC's book from Amazon. Then for reading, I plan to follow what Ruth Beechick recommends in her book, "The Three R's". Then... whatever group subjects (still playing and praying about that one).

My second oldest child -- A wonderful and curious girl who always brings a piece of nature inside with us -- who is half 1st grader and half second grader --
For her:
Math: Ray's New Arithmetic series (book #1) with some math games from Easy Peasy (and we plan to do work pages from "Plain Not so Plain" curriculum by Amy Maryon). ****The PNSP choice...happened yesterday...under much prayer and also applies to her older sister (my raising 4th grader)****
Language Arts: At the moment -- Language lessons for Today (by "My Father's World"). I picked this because a lot of it can be and is done orally which suits my star eyed girl.
Reading: She picked "Hooked on Phonics" (the old version) from a pile of "Learning to read" material that was generously given to us AND has loved it...so continuing with that is the plan. Last school year, was when she started having any interest in reading....so yay👍🎉

The kindergarten & 1st/2nd grader will be doing Individual Bible together... recently we have been going through the Action Bible YouTube videos...not sure where we will go from there...

Can you explain portfolios? I'm new to homeschool and my state doesn't require them but does recommend them. I have no clue how or where to start. Thank you

We are using FIAR too! I have been considering Christian Light math, would you consider it traditional in style?
