Dinosaur Myth Busted: Cloning dinosaurs

One day, we'll be able to bring back dinosaurs by cloning their DNA.

We've seen it in the movies. All we need is their preserved blood. Then we can extract their DNA and essentially resurrect numerous extinct dinosaur species. Right?

Wrong.

As fascinating as that prospect is, DNA is a very fragile molecule, which breaks down and is utterly unusable shortly after the death of an animal. We will never be able to clone a dinosaur.

How can you explain soft tissue preserved by iron inside a 65 million year old femur of a T-Rex?

Perhaps modern technology can't bring us dinosaurs, but who's to say future technology won't?

It's depressing to have in a video like this a suggestion titled "shocking find! Dinosaurs found to be living recently"... and they're probably not referring to birds...

Almost as sad is everyone just down-rating this video because they also don't accept the truth. Perhaps if the video was a bit more in depth rather than just basically, "no way, sorry, impossible! Bye!"

For many the reaction is similar to have been told Santa Claus isn't real.

Ah yes, you debunked a whole scientific possiblity by simply saying that ''DNA is fragile'', what an amazing fucking argument. Not like you need more information to debunk someone.

Couldn't we use CRISPR gene technology to make something just as good?

you can make dinosaurs by using birds

Dinosaurs can ve made by reverse engineering birds. Birds still carry latent dino genes.

Scientists already created a bird with a dinosaur tail and teeth.

Why isn't it possible? I distinctly remember the the discovery in 2015 of soft tissue in a Theropod claw which contained blood cells. True, it's dead, but it contains DNA and blood cells. What we need now is an embryonic containment or egg.

Yet we still talk about bringing mammoths back.

For all those whining about findings of soft tissue, basically it was tissue that by nature is more structurally resistant than DNA molecules, that physics predict to have a half-live of only some tens of thousand years. That's regarding the very molecular build up of the thing, with no external factors acting to further degrade it. And external factors would only accelerate the degeneration, but be useless for preservation, with the exception perhaps of some crazy "time-freezing" field (actual thermal freezing won't work). Which means, without reproduction in living cells, they can't be preserved. Sorry.

The technology required to actually clone dinosaurs would be literally a time-machine. Plus the regular cloning technology, but then it would be kind of pointless.

The best scientists can do is to hack birds and crocodiles in to some dino-like animals (dino-forgeries) eventually, perhaps within the next 50 to 100 years of development in genetic engineering.

But what if the dinosaur existed at the beginning of a major ice-age (e.g. the collapse of the atmosphere of planet Mars)... How long does freeze-dried DNA last...?

The did clone one for a year ago search for cloned dinasour on utube there is a vid when it dies

Nothing is impossible.
We will bring dinosaurs back, by genetic power in future, yes it will take long time to do this.
But it is possible.

Awesome we can bring back dinoaurs cool but just watch out for the T. rex build a Jurassic park
For the dinoaurs

Unless of coarse, we get soft bone tissue and use a less conventional way of cloning, but UOA wouldn't know anything about
