Basic Calibration Tutorial

This video shows you how to calibrate the Black Mirror Basic Plus scale. Calibration isn't necessary unless the scale becomes inaccurate. Please avoid placing heaving objects on the scale for extended periods, as this may slightly deform the sensor and affect accuracy.

If you found this video after having issues with your scale, there's one simple trick:
**You need another scale, you can use a cheap scale or borrow one from a friend**

-find 5 containers with different sizes and weights, and fill them with water, so you get: 20g, 100g, 500g, 1kg and 1kg
-make sure you can stack the containers with 1kg on top of each other, and also stack the 1kg and 500g.
-calibrate as shown in this video with those containers. When it asks for 1, 5kg, stack 1kg and 500g as shown in the video. And when it asks for 2kg in the end, stack both 1kg containers.

I saw this tip on Reddit, and it worked perfectly. Hope it helps more people.

I used a different scale, whose accuracy I trust, to make improvised weights from available items: a glass of water, a shot glass, a tumbler, and a water bottle. I adjusted the exact weight by adding water.

It turned out a bit messy, but the result is that the scale I was about to throw away now works like new and shows accurate weight!

Very happy!

Think about this. In order to calibrate your scale, you need to purchase all those different weights. That's insane.

How do I reset it to factory setting? Because I don't have 100gr, 1kg weights for callibration.

Like others I would have not purchased this item if I had known it required calibration after 18 months of use. However I did find this video useful and have recalibrated. If its any help I used a small plastic container, an egg cup and a gravy jug for the 20g, 100g and 500g respectively part-filled with jasmine rice to get fairly exact weight using a set of Salter kitchen scales. I used a part-emptied bag of flour for the 1kg and a part-filled (with water) vase for the 2Kg. As a note although I followed this procedure I did not get the 'END' come up on completion. On powering off and on again it does seem to measure as before.

For F1 I had to click on the power button to reset. And F7 was 2kg. I used another scale from a friend to create the weights.

I'm not able to access the calibration mode as shown. Why is this?

Why do you need so many calibration weights? Surely you can just do it with one? Acaia can do that

a 2kg weight by itself costs half the cost of the scale itself :/

It's so frustrating that with a wipe from a damp cloth this device went into calibration mode unprompted causing a massive headache to either buy weights or borrow a friends scale and use water. The haptic inputs on this device are atrocious. Frustrating that this product has cornered the ~$50-100 coffee scale market.
