Wow. I had no idea. But instant respect for Collins, it sounds like an intense amount of responsibility. Much of it life or death decisions, calculations, etc.
And never having flown to the moon before!
On a side note, AJ from Why Files brought up a good point on one of his episodes. How can you have extremely large crater impacts and small ones, that are basically the same depth?

When I stood in front of the Apollo lander at NASM, I was blown away that men had survived a trip to the moon in it. Looked so flimsy and small. Surely today it would be 100 times easier with todays micro electronics. So why not go now?
