Aptera: NEVER CHARGE Your Electric Car AGAIN !!

Aptera is a car that you never have to charge. Sounds unreal? But it is now possible!

There are many EVs available, but there's a revolution coming! A revolution that will change everything. A car that runs on solar energy, and you will never have to charge it. The solar powered electric vehicle, Aptera.

Find out the details of the revolutionary vehicle created by Aptera Motors and why you may never have to charge again.

The idea of a solar car is not something that is very new. As a matter of fact, the concept of a solar car was introduced by general motors in the 1950s with their experimental sun mobile. This means the idea has been around for more than 70 years. The technology of the time was not well developed so costs were high. As a result, General Motors only made a 15 inch model. The model had 8 solar cells on the hood. This model is alleged to have worked and was able to drive across a stage. Unfortunately solar technology made no significant progress for a couple decades. As a result no companies tried to forward the technology of a solar powered electric vehicle for a long while.

In 2005, Aptera Motors formed as a company. They came up with a concept of a solar car. Steve Fambro was the original founder and the company was initially called Accelerated Composites. Fambro partnered with a man named Chris Anthony. Anthony had experience in the boat building business so was knowledgeable about electric drive trains. The company name changed to Aptera Motors. Together they made the first prototype. It was a 3 wheeled car that looked like old Sci Fi.

Since this technology was ahead of its time, there were many funding issues. So in 2011 Aptera Motors reached its inevitable doom and had to be dissolved. You can say that they were a little too early.

Tell us if you think this is an EV you would consider buying. Why or why not?

This is cheap, luxurious, futuristic and economically superior. Now renters in apartments can finally buy EVs.

Really nice introduction and overview of the Aptera! You cover lots of the bases. Yes, I am planning to buy the Aptera because of it's efficiency, solar trickle charging, range, cargo space, and (admittedly) its "wow" factor (e.g., looks and acceleration). Being just a two-seater is not a huge disadvantage for us (we're empty-nesters). I've reserved one and have invested in the company.

This vehicle was on my radar early since I worked professionally in climate and other environmental issues, including supplying air conditioning to several early EV manufacturers.

After doing due diligence, I became an early investor, a volunteer brand ambassador and hold an early preorder number.

I am very excited about the fit of this vehicle for my wife's and my personal needs, the high fun factor, and the reduced impact on both our pocket books and the environment in the larger picture.

The price starts at $25, 900.00 for a 250 mile range with the basic solar as stock

It's not a car you "never have to charge". It's a car you "hardly ever have to charge" IF you stay within it's charging capabilities.

Hey guys, Why is it when these video reviews miss the fact that Aptera was not initially created as an EV? Other than that, welcome to the fray!

They use Lion batteries. They have a life cycle of 800 recharges. So every day that they charge is a charge cycle used, whether you full charge or put in only 40 miles(solar panels). With batteries that has always been the rule, only so many charges before the battery starts to lose capacity. Your phone goes thru the same degradation. It is my understanding that Lion batteries you should not fully charge. In fact some manufactures request that you do not go below 10% or charge over 85%. If you do that math then your 250 mile(25kw) car mileage becomes 187 miles assuming that you get the 10miles per KW. You could also assume that driving on the expressway would be 6-7miles per kw(125miles?). Lower that mileage in the winter, cold batteries, clean the car windows, run the heat, because even an ICE car gets 20% lower mileage in the winter. Of course, since no one follows the speed limit, expect even lower miles per KW. So the point is that your assumed 250 mile car depending on where you live and other factors could be much lower. After 3 years? of constant daily charging your battery starts to degrade.
