My boyfriend sent this to me the night before I moved in with him. I was having severe family troubles and had to move out rather quickly due to my brother being extremely abusive and severely addicted to meth, and my mom being manipulated by him which lead to many fights and my family turning against me. Due to this at the time I had been self harming, which is why this song hits hard. Having to move out was bittersweet because before this I had always been extremely close with my mother, and my boyfriend knew this and helped me to cope. Luckily, my mom and I have since resolved our issues and are back to being extremely close, and my boyfriend and I just bought a house together. It gets better <3

I remember the first time I heard this was at soulfest in 2007, I saw them live. I was 21 and saved for a few years but I struggled w depression, constant suicidal thoughts and everything that comes with depression. I heard this song and it broke me, because I felt these words on a level that I never felt before. 13 years later and I’m loving my life, married and so glad I never went down that path to end my life. Am I perfect? By all means no! But I give Christ all the glory.
