As a jockey, /work rider cannot stress enough, the most important part of tacking up is your girth. A good rider can survive a stirrup that breaks, or even reins that snap, but if a girth is too loose or snaps, once that saddle falls back or slides to the side it's almost impossible to stay on. Especially if your job involves galloping horses at 40mph, and galloping them up to and jumping over hedges.

In all seriousness anyone getting into horses, check your girth 1. Before you get on 2. Tighten up STRAIGHT after you get on 3. Tighten again after some basic warmup/trot work and check again one final time just before doing jumping/galloping.

That's at least 4 times you should be checking your girth, it doesn't have to be insanely tight, but absolutely should be snug, and snugger than usual for gallop/jump work but you'd be so surprised how many horses "puff out" once they go into work, a really snug girth can all of a sudden be so loose you can fit your fist inside of it. You can never check your girth too often, even if you find it doesn't need to go up another hole! Once the hard work is over you can immediately loosen the girth again, give him a breather! The horse doesn't need that extra tightness on him, only for when it's needed!

That was ridiculous...that poor horse. It was obvious that the saddle was slipping down the horse's back by looking at the space between the pommel and the whithers...you could have broken your horse's leg or a hip running them on ice like that. He could have gotten a hoof through the stirrup as he was bucking and the way he fell the first time he could of snapped his neck...

It was obvious that the saddle was sliding off. And for you girls to gallop your horses on snow and possibly snow like that. AND for you to be laughing at the same time? That horse could’ve been seriously injured.

Not all people need to be riding horses fr. If you can’t slow down to adjust the saddle your definitely in the wrong. You almost killed that horse.

This person knew the saddle falling off, she could feel and see it. But not once did she slow down or acknowledge it. And the poor horse is kicking at the saddle, spooked by it. This person should not be anywhere near a horse as long as I'm concerned, and ik most of y'all will agree with me.

Maybe she should learn how to properly put a saddle on a horse and cinch it up. Also, when the saddle started sliding back, she should have stopped, gotten off, and had someone show her how to fix it properly.

She definitely could notice that saddle was sliding back. Everyone should have slowed there horses and fixed that before the horses felt like it needed to fight that situation

and maybe don’t continue to gallop if you can hopefully FEEL the saddle is too far back.


That could have ended much worse and caused trauma for everyone including the horses there. Please be smart before someone gets hurt
