instead of cutting the stitches, i'd recommend getting a seam ripper from any craft store, will probably take less than 5 minutes to go around the bottom of a pant leg of that size. they're around the same price as scissors so as a seamstress (hobby, not professionally) i think its worth it to buy especially if you wanna alter more pants/projects

Instead of waiting for 5 to 10 wears for them to look distressed just throw them in the washing machine. It'll look like 10 wears from one wash.

I love this yesss. I was contemplating not doing it on a pair of thrift store jeans I got for my toddler bc I didn’t want to make them too short for her but this solves that problem. They’re classic blue, wide leg, boys carpenter jeans and I already did the knee holes and I have a cool butterfly patch and peace hand patch to iron on too.. I think the bottom hem will make them look even more retro and less boyish with the bottom hem like this. Can’t beat it for $1.75. The patches cost more than the pants lol thanks for this

Instead of cutting anything you guys could use 2 different grits of sand papers and rub it on the very bottom of those jeans until you get the exact distress look you were imagining in your head
