Memorable scence from series 1 of Sherlock in which Doctor Watson meets an intimidating man at a warehouse, who seems to know all about him. Great HD clip from Sherlock, starring Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch.

I love when Mycroft says "You're not haunted by the war, you miss it"

That moment when we all thought Mycroft was Moriarty

I remember when I first saw the episode I was pretty sure this was Moriarty (he behaved so much like canonical Moriarty). when I rewatch it now, I can't help admiring Mark Gattis' acting skills

I was almost convinced he was Moriarty, respect to Andrew Scott, but Mark Gatiss is also very talented at being slightly evil.

I love John. I love how he was not intimidated or flustered by Sherlock's "arch-enemy" and brought the sass.

Sherlock is self-destructive, Mycroft looks out for him.  Mycroft is the smarter brother, and he knows how to get along with society, Sherlock doesn't... or doesn't care.

In the season 3 final, Mycroft admits this. He loves his baby brother, through the entire series he has been looking out for Sherlock.

I love this scene... It's so creepy. For those that already knew the Sherlock Holmes characters it was a bit like "Did we just meet Moriarty or Mycroft?"

"Welcome back."
That was defenitely one of the scariest scenes in that episode and this line...it gave me the creeps. Gatiss IS good, isn't he? I mean, his acting is really good and I bow to him and Moffat for the marvellous writing.

This is the scene that honestly sold the show's premise to me - a wonderfully contained John Watson under pressure and a charismatic yet honest Mycroft. The characters have evolved beautifully yet retained their core essences in three series.

"You are not haunted by the war, you miss it."-- we should have known John was indeed addicted to a certain lifestyle years ago .

When I first watched this, the way Mycroft described himself as Sherlock's "archenemy" had me assuming that he was Moriarty. Sherlock saying that he was the most dangerous man in the world seemed to confirm this... until the end of the episode when they are talking about their mother.

I LOVE John's twitches when Mycroft mentions his PTSD. This scene is brilliantly played by both actors, Martin knocks it out of the park.

I love this scene between the two. Each trying to get the upper hand. Mycroft by insults and veiled threats; Watson by remaining cool. Watson seems to be winning - droll, amusing comebacks - until Mycroft brings up details of John's sessions with his therapist. It's Watson's first sign of fear. Mycroft sees that he's getting to him, then Watson starts recovering. Only to see Mycroft walk off triumphantly. Self-declared victory.

You're not haunted by the war, Dr. Watson. You miss it. Welcome back.

One of my favourite scenes from the first episode. Brilliantly played by both Freeman and Gatiss!

This man has the coolest umbrella/walking stick I’ve ever seen. Along with that walk. Call me a fanboy but I respect that
