i like that sherlock, in his description of john, actually reveals quite a bit about himself as well. he’s quick to show off, observant, and— as smart as he is —he’s faster to speak than to collect all the information (john only has a sister). i think sherlock realizes that he is allowing john to get to know him through this demonstration, and it is a more effective introduction than if sherlock were to try to describe himself, and ask john about himself.

It's the wink Sherlock gives to John before he leaves that I love.

The best part is that look Sherlock gave to his friend, as if saying “where is the problem? I did not see one.” 😂🤣😂

All correct apart from him having a brother. John actually has a sister called Harriet, affectionately nicknamed Harry.

There's a lot going on between the lines, but I'll leave that for the others who've already pointed it out. I wanted to talk about the distinct differences between the show and the book. The original Sherlock Holmes series was set in Victorian times, so obviously a lot was different. But the line of the plot goes roughly the same way. Watson got his medical degree, became an army doctor, fought a war in Afghanistan, got shot in the shoulder and was unable to serve any longer. Skipping to the part of flat-hunting, Watson meets up with Stamford, in which Sherlock is mentioned and elaborated. Stam gives background detail to Holmes and a sort of vague-ish warning about the 'fellow who's a little queer in his ideas' yes that's an actual quote. This is where the differences contrast the most. When Watson was taken to the lab, Sherlock was finishing his experiment-turned-successful 'Sherlock Holmes test' of identifying blood within mixed substances. And we were given various hints to his fascination with crime after listing the cases his test would've clarified ('Von Bischoff of Frankfort, Mason of Bradford, and the notorious Muller, and the Lefèvre of Montpellier, and the Samson of new Orleans'). Sherlock even asked about his boundaries against annoying flatmates, violin playing, chemical experiments, mood swings and all. In A Study of Scarlet, Watson got to learn more of Sherlock before the 'I can deduce anything before I blink' bombshell was dropped on him. I love Bennie Cucumber and Martin Hedgejog's acting, but comparing it with the Doyle's writing, I find the books much more compelling and less 'shove it in your face' over the show, respectively. What do you think?

...up to this day I wonder how funny if he would just have said _„You know what? I will go rather meet my brother then live with him.“_
