“The different hats I wear are: shop prepping, cooking, packing, delivering, dispatcher, customer service, graphic designer. Why I do everything is because I don’t know that you’re not supposed to do everything–I don’t come from the industry.” Bon Appétit spends a day on the line with chef Salvatore La Rosa, the one-man-show behind Brooklyn’s hottest new lunch delivery service, Salvo’s Cucina Casalinga.

ABOUT BON APPÉTIT
Bon Appétit is a highly opinionated food brand that wants everyone to love cooking and eating as much as we do. We believe in seasonal produce, properly salted pasta water, and developing recipes that anyone can make at home.

Literally single handedly running an entire sandwich making operation. Such an inspiration and major props.

I love that they didn’t even mention his missing hand. This story is powerful enough without dwelling on that - he is not defined by it!

I was about 5 minutes into this video before I realized he's doing all this with ONE HAND. 🤯 RESPECT

I’m Italian, born and bred in Milan. The Genovese sandwich at the beginning of the video is the same recipe that my father does once in a while when we have pork in the house. To all of you that live in NYC i can confirm that these are genuine Italian recipes/combinations.

This is the opposite of what terrible tv shows do. They focus on the talent and hardwork instead of building a narrative. This guy is inspiring.

I’ve had his sandwiches delivered twice—learned of Sal through neighbors in Bedstuy. They’re really fresh and delicious.

very inspiring, I'm a physically disabled person but I love to cook, today after so much effort I can cook my own and my mom's meals 3 times a week, I hope one day I can have a business like you

"I don't know that you're not supposed to do everything" is such an underrated statement because business models and outsourcing strategies are gatekept knowledge to the working class

"Food is happy" indeed. Amazing food quality and I love how much attention to detail he shows to his craft. I also love the references to his parent's history and the little touches he added to his food brand, especially the little blue stickers. The stickers are a lovely warm azure blue and functionally hold the sandwich seal perfectly!
