I honestly think a basic stripped down version of the model 3 is exactly what people want. Sure it’s nice but I could live without leather seats, especially during the summer, and a heated steering wheel and seats I’m okay with out. The Tesla charging network and reliability are the main selling points in my opinion

Intels' Atom chip is not even on the same level as the Ryzen chip for 3D graphics. So we can't expect the same features to be available for older models. The real question is, why didn't Tesla build it in a way to offer an upgrade path for those of us willing to pay for it.

Not arguing against anything you said because it’s all pretty factual, but what I will say is a lot of it is to be expected. I got the cheapest RWD MY I could get and for me (and I think a lot of people like me) I’ve never owned any sort of luxury car. The base MY feels incredibly luxurious to me and gets me into the Tesla family 🥰 It does suck that it lacks a lot of features like a rear screen and the ambient lighting, ride quietness and torque etc. But it’s also $50k cheaper than the X so what did I expect? Really I got the Y because I never drive at night, I hardly ever have anyone in the backseat, it’s a hell of a lot quieter than my old car, and faster, but bigger than a 3. If in 5 years the car still drives exactly the same but I don’t get certain updates to make it better, I wouldn’t be mad. My old car didn’t update for 10 years. The 3D animation of the car when parked is nice but I’m sure, as a poor person entering this market, I could live without it! 😂

My wife has 24 3 base . Looking at getting a Y but really not overly interested until when and IF we get an updated “juniper” . Otherwise we may just get a model 3 performance. With that said I’m not in the market until early ‘25 anyway . ( installed a wall charger and it’s a game changer btw but we are fortunate that when we do super charge on trips, Florida is never congested at the stations, how’s california holding up? Genuine question . I’m from there)

I've only ordered the red short Shorts from Tesla shop. That was it. I missed out on the good stuff like the flamethrower and Tequila. I was on the fence on the Burnt Hair perfume before it was sold out.

I'm guessing the cost/feature cutting is their way of getting to the $25k car without actually having to bring out a new model. Elon has already mentioned that they would be bringing less expensive cars to market. As for the features not making it to older vehicles, just look at the operating system on your computer....Windows 11 won't work on machines with older processors. It's the same thing with a Tesla. Why waste development cycles trying make everything work on older cars. Besides, how would you drive new sales if your cars that are 10 years old are able to offer the same features / functions as a new car?
