This free resource is NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. What I noticed about your videos is that they all lead to the same place. Good mental health and how to achieve it or contribute towards it. . Nami, getting enough sleep, good self care, healthy eating, how to pay for meds when you need them. You give such helpful advice. Seriously everyone of these topics you need to be balanced in and take advantage of the great advice and help out there, and we get it all here on your site for free. For many people, mentalyl unhealthy or struggling means many times hopelessness, confusion and poverty. Thank you for sharing you are doing a good thing! Look forward to every video.

Dr. Kim, I wish that this video or a similar one was available when I was first treated in 1999 (I left the U.S. in 2000) and when I briefly came back to the U.S. in 2011~2012. It would have been helpful when I was going through a difficult period of adjustment and looking for health care.

So I called and the woman on the phone was amazing and awesome but she basically told me since I live in a rural area that I can’t get any help.

I went to a NAMI group and was harassed by another participant. I had to call the NY state office to get anything done because the facilitator was friends with the man who harassed me and another female participant. We both left the group. It's a boy's club.

I think NAMI is too tied to the professional system. It is too focused on specific diagnosis and existing clinical systems of treatment. Many positive approaches can done without a licensed professional. People who have experienced common conditions can be a better resource than licensed professionals. Many people have been misdiagnosed and tracked into ineffective treatment. As one of those people I have a skeptical view of "Therapy". My skepticism is then seen as a symptom that requires therapy. This has been infuriating but after seeing this pattern for 40 years I know it is a systemic problem the profession must address. Is there any way to bring this issue into the mainstream?

Simply stated, misdiagnosis is a common phenomenon. It is no different in brain related conditions than in other medical conditions.
