The judge in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial thanked the jury after a verdict reached shortly after closing arguments.

Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of gunning down his son, Paul, and his wife, Maggie, on June 7, 2021, at their South Carolina estate.

Judge Newman . You are a treasure. You restore our faith in a judicial system that was badly scarred by the the person on trial. People around the USA and several other countries watched and commented on line about this trial and l am glad you were the judge that represents us.

I commend this jury for being able to see throughout the trial to get to the truth of this horrible crime. I feel bad for their remaining son and the name he has will be hard for awhile. I hope his remaining uncles help him deal with the days ahead. I hope he goes down a better road than his father did. He killed his son to keep him from falling a trial besides trying to coverup his business.

I enjoy this footnote, thanking the jury. He (judge) seems like a decent guy on my first impression. I didn’t watch the trial. I know so little that I would’ve been an unbiased juror. Thankfully I don’t reside in Colleton County, SC.
