Alberta Premier Danielle Smith revealed the next phase of her government’s plan to overhaul Alberta’s healthcare system, including plans to remove Alberta Healthcare Services as the operator of some hospitals.

Plus, the hockey world was shocked to learn of the death of hockey star and former Calgary Flames player Johnny Gaudreau, who was killed by an alleged drunk driver.

What would improve our healthcare system is to control over medical licensing and the governance of issuing, suspending and cancelation of medical professionals accreditation. We have far to much political Influence in the medical profession.

Waiting two years for hip replacement, suffering in pain is not health care. I can pay 30 k and have the procedure done in six weeks by the same doctor that will do it in two years. The only shortage is the amount of money paid to physicians by the Alberta government. I have paid into the system for over fifty five years. This is unacceptable in a rich province. 🇨🇦

Its long overdue but subcontracting doesn't work. Had to go to Ontario for 10 years and couldn't believe that I only needed to wait a couple weeks to get into specialists and I come back to Alberta and I'm waiting 1 year for an MRI and 2 years to see an opthalmologist etc. whoever let it get like this should be fired and blacklisted. Also need to get rid of all these user fees. Ontario heat and electricity was have the price because we didn't have to pay thre different sources to get gas or electricity, paid one provider for utilities but didn't pay separately for delivery and line maintenance etc. too many people with their hand out getting rich off people without providing any value

When it comes to the functioning of a business, if government is involved it always costs more. This is the right move. If a CEO knew they had unlimited funds and no accountability because their company will just keep on going on, instead of losing their job within a week they keep it for several years and get a great severance payout 20 years later.

It's good to have someone who has an actual interest in sports to be covering sports.
Transgender athletes being allowed to compete in female categories is an aberration pushed by people who have no understanding of competitive sports, but are philosophically adamant that it should happen.
