first of all; FIRST!!! Ok, now that, that's out of the way; I don't think common core is a good idea, especially in math. I'm not sure if it's in common core but I was taught under IMP during high school and I found it much harder than traditional math, due to the fact that I had to discover important equations piece by piece, which led to confusion and frustration, but that all practically disappeared when I started doing college algebra. In college algebra I was given the important equations almost right off the bat, and their function and structure were even explained to me.
