'Positive and negative, four hours apart': Accuracy of COVID-19 testing in question

I had 3 Covid test in the past 2-3 weeks. The first came out positive by nurses, a speed test that took about an hour to get results. I immediately went to the hospital to get another test that was sent to a laboratory where I waited 27 hours for results--results came back NEGATIVE. Then I got another test 3 days again at the ER because I was having bad anxiety and they took another test--a blood test and my results were NEGATIVE again. So idk about these stupid tests.

It is pointless to be tested if you don't have symptoms. It also causes the labs to get over worked, then the workers throw out batches of tests and just randomly say positive or negative to catch up and go home. The only people that should be tested are those entering a hospital or nursing home.

So that’s why my state of FL has skyrocketing cases... I have a co worker where I use to work back in FL that told me he knew someone that went to test but never did the test...now he showed as positive

My husband had been tested for covid rtpcr swab. All tests conducted at hospitals gave POSITIVE results while all those conducted at free standing laboratories were NEGATIVE. We found out later on that most if not all hospitals' n gene ct cuff value is at 40 ct up when the cdc is at 33 ct & who is at 35 ct. One of my husband's ct value which was declared positive by a hospital is 36.79 ct. We must have a uniform n gene ct cut off value for COVID 19 worldwide so as to avoid confusing test results. A lot of recovered workers cannot go back to work because of misdiagnosis.

I tested the nostril on 4/13, positive. I got the same test at different location today, negative. I’m waiting for mouth test result which is PCR. They say nostril one is antigen test and is less accurate then mouth test. Hope I get negative in the mouth test as well. Yesterday was a mess and panic to my family. We cleaned the room and I quarantined myself. My kids were sad. My husband was stressed out. They didn’t eat dinner but only ordered chicken nuggets. I can’t imagine this last for two weeks. Even can’t imagine my family lost me. Now I feel truly sorry for the families lost their beloved one, and families that are experiencing this. God bless everybody! By the way, when do the nostril test, ask the nurse do it for you. The first positive one I got I did it myself. I didn’t insert the test thing all the way down to the nose. It was free test by the government. The second nostril one was $150, I paid out of pocket and it’s negative. I am not relating these two I just say I’m lucky even though I paid for it. Hope everyone is healthy!!!

I tested positive at 7:30 am! I then wanted a second opinion and went to urgent care, tested negative four hours later! WTF

My friend’s paranoid mother (who was in voluntary isolation out of fear) had her asthma act up a bit, so she went to get tested just to ease her anxiety. She ended up testing positive. She hadn’t been in contact with anyone for 4 month. Her son had picked up some old clothes but contactless – they were sitting in a bin in the garage for a month before she tested. In a panic she asked him to get tested too. He tested positive also even though all he did was pick up some laundry that was technically quarantined for a month. Makes no sense.

Very interesting to think about the number of tests CVS is performing and the topic discussed here. How many false positives out there are there. If I Work in a hospital, have this test performed and receive a false negative the consequences are enormous. This must be happening all over the world. Scariest thing Ive heard all year.

Same thing just happened to me. With 2 separate at home test. Tested positive and then retested with a different brand and it was negative. Am I positive or not?

Just feeling a little yucky and a bad sore throat. I have been vaccinated (1st 2 doses but no booster.) I'm high risk with diabetes and other health issues. Family of 5 so it's really important to know. I'd rather not go out in public to test unless I absolutely have to.

Wow this is so Weird, I’m 21 years old, lean and athletic and I never get chest pains. I felt sputum and pressure in my chest, trouble breathing and terrible fatigue that left me bed ridden for days. My heart felt like it was about to stop. I got my test results back today and they were negative. If there is an issue with the accuracy of the tests, I will be so upset because my grandmother and family lives with me and I don’t want to get anyone Ill

1:05 worse than getting no test at all is getting incorrect test results. 2:34 spain recalled some tests due to inaccuracy. 2:53 false positives mean you could use resources unnecessarily ex ppe/ventilators, false negatives could be worse re risk.

This is my fiancé now !! He tested positive for Covid again then all of a sudden he’s negative the next day. I’m so confused cause I’ve been around him and my kid and I’m scared. My daughter and I both tested negative but I want my fiancé to test to be sure, it’s crazy!!! And he’s showing no signs of Covid either

This is getting scary now as I took a test it was positive but very faint line a hour later I was negative then the next day I had two positive and a negative so out of five tests three was positive two negative so tell me how that works😡 what’s to say the government ain’t putting certain tests that come up positive and some negative as if a family of 5 took the test I did out of one pack two members of their family would think they negative and the other three positive scary stuff 💯

It is frustrating, I tested 10 to 12 days after symptoms appeared, got a negative, my whole family was positive but they tested earlier... I also got the a pfizer shot right before symptoms started. So then after quarantining Because of symptoms and close contact I had to start all over because it was negative which meant I could still get it from close contact in my home. I didn’t mind though because the virus put one of us on a ventilator which was scary. But now I just feel sinus pressure, a few weeks later.
