HOW TO TEACH TWO LETTER BLENDING | SARA MEER

How to teach 2 letter blending is what you will see in this video.

1. Make a Chart of Consonant-vowel words
2. Explain the child that first we will practice verbally. Blending is not a visual skill , it's verbal. Example: "Can you bring the c-up from the kitchen?"
Example2: Say it slowly first "aaaaammmmm"
Now say it fast "am"
3. Take two lego blocks and write the consonant and vowel on each. ex, f and a. Hold it in your hands and decrease the gap as you bring them together saying the sounds. This is the best activity to teach blends. So when you decrease gap, the sounds will sound more close to the actual word. This is the most important activity. Don't skip this one
4. Take an Art Book. Plain paper. What you have to do is write the consonant with other vowels. Ex; fa, fe, fi, fo, fu. Keep repeating this. 2-3 days a week. Change the consonants.
5. Add a Black Board or white board to give some variety. The same way as above. na, ne, ni, no, nu.
6. Show Cartoons videos on blending.

What should be the procedure for blending. Should we teach all two letters blend first and then move to 3 letters blend OR we should move with one family e.g. at and its 3 letters blend sat, rat etc.? And kindly recommend good book for phonics (2 or 3 letters blends)

MA you are doing a great job and your hard work is paid off by watching ur own son. He is picking all the things so quickly MA. I need a suggestion from you . I did phonics, beginning letter sounds and now its time for cvc words. But for that i want my child to know first about blending two letters just as shown in your video. But before your video i collected some activity samples from the internet related to two letter blends and all were in the form of VC (vowel consonant) i.e VC family letter blends . But your this video suggests CV ( consonant vowel) letter blending. So my question is should i stick to VC letter family or switch to CV letter blending ? I mean which one is more effective ?

Assalamualaikum Sara. Hope you are well, your videos are so good, informative and helpful. I am also homeschooling mom . My son just turned three AlhamduLillah. I wanted to know should I begin with ABC upper and lower case and then go towards blending cvc and sight words because I was wondering how would they recognize blends if they are not aware of letters first. Please correct me If I am wrong. Thankyou ♥️ and duas to you .♥️
