Humor is much to do with context and absurdity. When Don Rickles told jokes like that in the 60s and 70s, they served a purpose. In that context, they were absurd and a lot of people found them funny on account of how things were. And it's worth pointing out that very many of his jokes were about Jews, and he was Jewish. The context changed, and the reasons for finding racial jokes funny, for many people, have changed. It's not that people "can't take a joke", is really that most people in the current context find watermelon jokes mean and inappropriate.

I have always been an independent. I use to vote for candidates on both sides of the aisle based on their views, important issues they address and character. It was a difficult decision on which candidates to vote for, but in the last 4yrs, Trump and the MAGA GOP has made my decision a lot easier. They continue to lie and I can not believe anything they say. They also continue to divide the American people. Now, I'm a registered Democrat and voted all democrat this year. It's sad that some of the mainstream media including CNN has normalize what Trump and the GOP are saying.
