In this video I will go over the diagnostics procedure about how to tell if you have a bad engine control module, a shorted wire to ground, corrosion and buildup causing resistance in wiring harness or connectors and how you can use a multimeter to diagnose these problems.

I would have liked to see you verify the voltage out from Ecu to be10.5v. Thanks for the education. Excellent content.

You're too smart, I love it. I don't understand this stuff well, but am slowly learning from you. Hope all is well on the ranch 💕🤙

Isn't it usually "hey hey hey do it yourself-ers"? I only got two hey-hey's this morning. Maybe I'm dreaming.

I've bought a 2002 Toyota MR2 spyder, which I've converted the transmission from auto to manual. The tricky part is now finding the wires that'll start the car. But watching your videos helps me understand the basics behind troubleshooting (even if I don't know where to begin)

This is an example of why I subscribe and why I recommend your channel to others!

Can you check the voltage directly at the ECU to verify the low voltage?

With vehicles today, just changing out a part does NOT mean the issue goes away.
So at some point, either you or a 'high-paid technician' with loads of time on his hand, & dollar signs in his eyes will find the real problem with an electrical meter. As for repair on the ECM, I never knew those things could or would be fixable inside. Beyond my pay grade, but great you found some shop that can do that kind of work. You also show what kind of issues a 'salt belt vehicle' can expect to have even though the car looks 'really clean' and a steal!
Old & simple is my idea of a reliable vehicle. But all things come to an end one way or the other. You sell it/ or it goes to a scrap yard.

It wouldn't be too hard to remove the capacitors with solder wick. You could then clean up the board and inspect the traces. You can check them for continuity to be sure. One of my theories is that if something is broken I can't make it worse by trying to fix it. This theory does not always work🙄. At least I always learn something. Wisdom comes from experiences, both good and bad.

Good idea to state for the learners that “ series circuits have voltage drop at each load.” The load COULD BE a loose connection, an unintended load. thank you

I love this guy. Always cracks me up and has a master level of car repair knowledge. I'd love to see if you can fix that thing yourself. Thanks for another great video!

Where can we get access to wiring diagrams for a car like you have shown in this video. Thanks

What multi meter leads you using? They look good quality

Excellent video. Good resource for saving money. I thought the only way to solve this problem was to buy a new engine control module. Very expensive and wasteful if a repair is possible.

The TPS has an Old Fashion cable to/from the gas pedal?
