I enrolled in the telematics and got the maximum discount of 30% which came to approximately $530 discount in my six month premium…only to be surprised with an increase of over $600 in my premium. The reason? I got rear ended twice in a 5 month span and even though it wasn’t my fault they still consider it as me being a high risk driver. What a joke

No-claims discounts are gimmicks. The reason for the deductible is to mitigate superfluous claims... dents from shopping buggies, shopping center fender-benders, and any other claims-minutiae from dumb policy holders. Now, the cost in savings between a $250.00 and $2500.00 deductible is usually peanuts, so folks just opt for the lower/lowest deductible. If insurance companies are not incentivizing filing fewer claims via the deductible, then in actuality they probably care less about excessive claims.
