Me: puts seconds of a copyright song in my video

YouTube: I’m about to end this mans whole career

If my video has been claimed I usually just remove it from the platform. Because I find it completely unfair that a claimant monetize a whole one hour video because of 1 minute song nobody knows and nobody cares about. They should just share the revenue so it would be a win-win situation and not lose-lose.

I can't believe there is still not an option for an incorrect claim. Sometimes the claim bot just misidentifies what is in your video completely so you have to choose something like fair use when its the incorrect choice.

dude, I literally uploaded a 100% original song I made that is literally about characters in a fictional universe, which I also made, and a day later it got a content id claim for a song that sounded literally completely different... im straight up not liking youtube's vibe man.

I have had content claims in the past and 100% of the claims I dispute have been removed. I make sure to use royalty free music in the video. I also make sure that the royalty free music site has a page with the license that gives me permission to use the music. When I dispute the copyright claim I add the Title, Composer, Album, and Publisher of the music along with a link to the license. I choose the option that says something like "I have the rights/license to use..." The claims are usually removed within a day but some don't respond and it takes the entire 30 days to remove the claim. What sucks is that YouTube automated claim tool will flag copyright free music all day long. There are even videos out there where people have received content claims for using copyright free music in the YouTube Music Library. Get it together YouTube. We need tool that doesn't make us do all of this unnecessary work. If we take the time to follow the rules, YouTube should have a tool that can recognize that the music is copyright free.

These are simply scammers trying to monetize other peoples videos. They have no obligation to prove their claim. I have tried to google some of these claimants. I'm tired of them.

I have a question
*How to mute a claimer?*

This is all great but the system is still hugely flawed. Yesterday I uploaded a video where I'm sound designing a synth sound from scratch, the video got copyright claimed during a part of the video where a single sound is playing a single sustained note while all I was doing is moving one knob around in the synthesizer. Your system is hugely flawed if it triggers a copyright claim on something that isn't even a musical arrangement, but a single sound.

I complained about it on Twitter since this is the second time in two weeks this is happening to my channel and it has happened numerous times before. It's been years since this has been going on and it looks like the frequency in which copyright claims come in on my channel is only increasing while all the claims I dispute have been false and I always won the disputes. The problem is that each of these disputes means extra work for us creators, plus the time it takes to get a dispute being taken care of, it's all pretty pointless and it should not have to happen this way. Creators are spending time on false claims more than years before, at least I am and I could also be spending that time on making new content.

So long story short, this is all fun and games, but when the system itself is hugely flawed you've got some work to do YouTube!

Every single claim that has ever been made against me was invalid yet to make an argument against someone claiming false copyright then I must give them my private information. When is YouTube going to start punishing those channels who continuously claim false copyright? Claiming false copyright is ILLEGAL so many we can get their information and take them to court?

What’s really annoying though is that every song I have ever used has come from the YouTube audio library but it’s now these songs that are being claimed because the person who owns the song now wants to claim it. Nicolai Heidlas is one example all his songs were once able to be used copyright free but have now been removed from audio library and his or his third party company is claiming all the videos now. This is what’s unfair. What’s to say this won’t happen to other artist currently in the audio library

Where is the option when appealing a Content ID Claim to select "This is a false claim, what is being claimed isn't even in the video" that's a very important option these days here on YouTube with the vast increase in fraudulent and bogus claims.

YouTube it is 2019, perhaps you should update your Content and Copyright System so that in this day and age the making the claim for content in the video actual has to provide evidence up front that they are indeed the rights holder and they do legally own the material they are attempting to claim. Would stop a lot of fraudulent and BS claims being made against creators and also make some companies realise that copyrights don't last forever and are indefinite but do actually need to be renewed otherwise they lapse.

Would be nice in 2019 if the Creators were treated with an Innocent until Proven Guilty mentality and not just instantly get a claim and lose their ad-revenue and have to go through the appeal process and wait 30 days for the bogus claims to be released and they get their video back. In those 30 days that's a lot of views and clicks they would have got which would have made them the very important revenue.

It gets annoying when they are claiming single musical notes. LITERALLY! Single notes and cords cannot be copyrighted in any country so any companies wasting our time over things that are not copyrightable need to be banned. I now have 3 outstanding claims like this.

we challenge youtube to make copyright claiming more difficult, and add more procedure as fake claimers are stealing revenue they did not work for or belong to them, i wonder why someone will place copyright on song from youtube audio library royalty free music.

Why does YouTube even bother with this when we've all told them 1 million times that this system doesn't even function properly?

YouTube, you need to remember you're only still here because of us creators who keep uploading content. Why don't you thank us by making a copyright system that actually works??? 🤔

You forgot to mention the part where the dispute doesn’t go through until you have almost no traffic coming through or once your video is no longer profitable by the claimant. I think claimants should respond within 12-24 hours instead of the amount of time you give them so they don’t abuse the flawed system. Food for thought.

It would help if the youtube video editor wasn't total trash. We can't even add pictures on top of video clips anymore.

why is it that I get a claim and that music is muted (not my decision) yet I search youtube for that same song and find THOUSANDS of the same song are up and not muted, I highly doubt that those thousands of people have permission to use the song.

Also weirdly a song that was muted becomes un-muted years later? what gives?
