How Clash Royale RUINED PEKKA

Clash Royale's Pekka has had a very prominent history in Clash Royale. It's one of the franchises most iconic troops. Yet in recent years, it's fallen HARD. This is her story.

Correction: The PEKKA's description in Finnish does not use male pronouns to describe her, but its rather gender neutral. Cannot confirm if this is the case for the other languages mentioned.

As of July 25, 2024. Pekka is sitting at a 16% usage rate with a 51% win rate which are very high rate.I never expected Pekka to have rate as high as this ever

The name P.E.K.K.A comes from a common Finnish male name Pekka. It was not originally an acronym in the beta stages of Clash of Clans. It likely started as an inside joke between the devs.

2:36 The Finnish translation does not refer to P.E.K.K.A. as male. Finnish does not have gender specific pronouns, nor does the description contain a word specifying gender. Finnish does however translate horribly with Google translate, which is where the mistake is

Fun fact,
Before the creation of Clash of Clans, there was a Facebook game called Backyard Monsters, which was pretty much the same concept of CoC. In Backyard Monsters, there was a monster called D.A.V.E., which was a robot monster with high health and damage, with a large housing space. CoC creators mentioned their inspiration from the old Facebook game upon its release. This is likely why P.E.K.K.A., a high health, damage, and housing space troop, has an abbreviated name

I'm from Finland, the country where supercell is also from, and Pekka is a finnish man's name. Also at some point you pointed out that in finnish pekka would be referred to as a male, however the finnish language doesn't have different words for she and he, but only one word: "hän". Anyways great video!

Honestly, all I wanna see is for PEKKA to one-shot more cards. ESPECIALLY against Royal Hogs. I agree with you there.

I’d maybe go further though. +7.1% Damage buff would let it two-shot Hog Riders at the very least, as well as one-shot heavily-overleveled Wizards & Musketeers. It wouldn’t really hurt Hog Rider decks all that much since they tend to be in a very fast cycle deck anyway.
