I used to go shark fishing off the beach when I was in Florida. The best time to go was about an hour before and after sunset. My buddy and I would take turns paddling bait out in a little rubber raft we bought at walmart. Let me tell you, after dark, being in a rubber raft about 100 yds from the beach, knowing there are dozens of sharks hunting between you and the shore, not to mention directly below your kayak, knowing one pop will lead to swimming with them.... and then you hear the splashing of random fish breaking top water close to that gets the blood pumping, let me tell you

Being down by the water, especially at night, can be pretty creepy for sure. It doesn't have to be night time, of course, to run across some hair raising situations though. I was fishing a small lake one time when a pretty good sized bear ran out of the woods and jumped in the water. It started swimming right towards me as I stood on the docks. I've always been warned about the dangers of underestimating black bears, since I've been told that if they attack, they mean to kill you. A person had been attacked by a black bear just up the road from where I was at the year before this happened, to add to it all. Anyway, as I was thinking about what I was going to do, being as the person I had gone to the lake with had left to go buy more bait at the store a few miles back up the road, a man pulled into the parking area with his dog. The dog and the bear immediately saw each other and that bear turned around and started swimming back toward the other side of the lake. It got out and ran straight back into the woods. I did have a sidearm on me at the time, as I always did have when I been out in nature. Still, I know that it's not a guarantee of my safety if I happened to have one jam up on me. I still thank that guy and his dog for showing up at just the right time.

I'm very much into fishing I have a whole basement full of rods tackle boxes and kayaks but I'm glad we have 15 inches of fresh snow on the ground because I don't want to go fishing for awhile these stories where creppy as hell good work as always swamp
