Russian government had been saying for months that conflict was going to break out, which is not commonplace for an aggressive war. The most serious question here is are the people finding themselves in this situation - every population that is or may find itself involved in conflict - accounted for in our perspective? Because thats what happens if we think its serious to preclude dialogue with any regional power.

It seems to me there are quite a few people who would rather preclude dialogue, peace, and the sparing of lives for the covert purpouse of politicizing their internal affairs and don't take war seriously enough "since I'm not going to be conscripted anyway" - perhaps even anticipate it to some extent. Nothing is as profitable as war to internal politics and economy of nations - though if we think like that the countless deaths we all have a responsibility to not bring about become externalities.
Nobody in their right mind can think to preclude reasonable dialogue and making an attempt to consider perspectives.

From a humanitarian perspective I feel sorry for all the Ukrainians who are suffering from the war. The West is also partly to blame for expanding NATO and also taking unilateral decisions on waging war in Iraq, Libya, & Syria. At the same time not condemning israel for its brutal occupation of Palestine.
