Shelby please don’t let the fluctuation of views get to you. I know you’ve been doing YouTube for forever but when you put so much time into a video and it doesn’t “ perform” how you want I know it gets to you a little bit. Fuck the views. Your content is amazing. You’re laying the foundation for a tv series. The production quality is amazing. It literally could not be better. I may be reaching and assuming a lot with this comment but I hope you don’t charge it to my heart. I’ve been watching you since 2012. You will always win because you consistently adapt and innovate. You’re fucking Shelby Church. Don’t forget who you are.

I always love your establishing shots / intro. You're not using slow motion on your B-Roll shots. I liked it a lot.

Great vid Shelby! I like that you get down to brass tacks, the finances, learning curve on building, renting and other how-to's. It's the details you ask about that are helpful which makes for a better informed opinion. Thanks for this...

Enjoyed the video. I looked into this exact business a while back and the lack of a good way to automate the check-in/tutorial for new renters was the most obvious issue to me. My life and schedule doesn't give me enough flexibility to do that on the side, but I'm sure it could be a good business for a lot of people.

Great shots, great music and great interviewee. Last few videos with these alternative investments (van/boat) have been very enjoyable.

Awesome video Shelby! I’ve been wanting to buy one of these vans, I’d never thought about renting it out to offset the payments.

I do the same thing in Seattle. Bought a Jeep Wrangler with pop up for ~40k with a monthly payment of $575 --> monthly revenue of $2, 000. Plus I get to take it on long road trips with free disbursed camping!

Good on her for being successful at this!

She must have really great credit. For normal people who get an unsecured loan at more like 15%, that monthly loan servicing would be more like $1329.00 plus the $124 insurance. And if you're buying a van you need to convert, add that conversion cost to the van price. And remember nobody wants to rent a van that looks like it's been converted by an amateur and everything is all janky.

In contrast, a 500k house on an FHA loan with a 3.5% down payment of $17, 500 is actually more achievable than $30k down on a van and a $60k unsecured loan. And the house appreciates while the van only depreciates - remember that the rise in vehicle price was a result of the pandemic shipping woes and if you're buying a vehicle now you're already too late to benefit from that. That appreciation is on the whole value of the house and not just your investment, so if your 500k house sees 3% appreciation in a year, it's $15, 000 in added value.

What makes more sense here is if you wanted the van for yourself for leisure, or as a temp base for a snowbird, and the rest of the time you can rent it out. In that case, you would have bought the van and converted it anyway, so the extra money is just for the hospitality work to turn the van and consumables like propane.

Great video as always but no van life for me! I would use it to get from Hotel A to Hotel B if I'm traveling and the toilet so near kitchen sink🤢...I cannot even...I am def not target audience for van life. Still, I really enjoyed the video...I like learning something new. Thanks, Shelby!💕

Following a few *full-time-van’ers* here on Y.T., should provide a sense of how van-life *really* is. I am more impressed by the people who choose this lifestyle. Weekender’s - Different experience; in my opinion. Stick to weekend rentals, #1 choice.

Diesel will be more in maintenance cost. Just wait until the stupid DEF has problems ( which seems like this happens way to much) & then when your DPF clogs up & have to fix that. Get a gas conversion van.

Diesel verhicles are not that common in the USA except for trucks and the like... I hope she tells her renters the van absolutely needs diesel. Accidently filling it up with gas will destroy the fuel system and make for a very steep repair bill.
