I'm about to start violently crying. I went and found my cat and did this to him. He immediately began blinking back and purring. We just kept going, blinking at eachother. 😅😻😻😻

I slow blinked at my cat and I swear to god he looked so surprised, call me a crazy cat person but he looked like he was about to cry, so to insure I wasn't crazy I did it again after a minute and he was still looking at me the same way before he blinked back and flopped on his back.

OMG! For YEARS, I thought the feral cats in my yard were bored by me, giving me this slow blink! They won't let me near them but they've been saying "You're cool with me." All these years! Now I slow blink back.

Dude I swear over the past like 2 months I’ve used your tips and my my connection with my cat has become so strong and he’s become much more sociable around other people too and he’s really broken out of his shell! It’s crazy!!

Funny story. When my my boyfriend and I first moved in together my cat didn't exactly like him and he never had a cat. Then one day he called me panicing that there was something wrong with her and her eyes where weird. I asked him to describe it and he said that she was blinking very slowly at him and couldn't keep her eyes open for very long. He thought she was having a stroke. I come home and she's just sitting there smiling at him. Lots a slow blinks, so much happiness.

Something I noticed about the hand thing, especially in animals that have been abused... they will generally be less aggressive if you approach them with your palm up, instead of the back of your hand up. It's easily explainable because abusive owners (obviously) hit their animal with their hand turned with the palm down. Having your palm up (as if you're offering food) gives a much more passive approach and animals like it better.

I just thought I'd share. :)

Did that to my cat, who was abused....  she ACTUALLY let me touch her!  She is opening up to me, and still cannot be touched very often, but this is a start!

I just tried this with my new kitten that I found at 3 weeks old (abandoned, dirty and cold). She rarely doesn’t swat to try to play, and doesn’t purr much, but the minute I did it she stared, started purring loudly, and then started slow blinking back at me 🥺🥺🥺
