People were falling to deaths only meters away, and yet this music still calms such a ghastly, haunting and macabre scene. Eerie.

The stark difference between the calm and relaxing song and the chaos occurring around is eerie

When I see this video, the towers, and hear this melody play, I draw comparisons to the Titanic and how the band played that song before the ship sank. Both were iconic structures that were thought of to be extremely strong and indestructible well on their way to their demise with a ginormous loss of life. The song that played here and on the Titanic were kinda like their farewell to the world in their final moments standing.

These towers were so iconic, stood for alot, and many viewed them as the centerpiece of New York and America even. That's unfortunately why they were continuously attacked and plotted against until they were ultimately destroyed.

The irony of this song playing is that one of the lines is "She'll promise you more than the garden of Eden then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while you're bleeding", it's like the American dream promised so much to these poor souls and this is what they got.

We can never forget.

I know Billy Joel must have been stunned to hear his artistic creation in this context.

This video is so unique to me. Most videos of the event have loads of screaming and sirens going off all around, but here it's almost quiet. Almost as if there's no one actually there except the camera man and the music.

The day this song stopped being about Billy's ex and became about a city. RIP my brother. I miss you still every day.

For me, “She’s Always a Woman” is the World Trade Center’s “Nearer My God to Thee” from the sinking of the Titanic

The horrific thing is how the cameraman is just standing there whenever everyone else left and scared. It’s like a liminal space while dead bodies drop out or live people die falling smacking the ground…
This is one of the most interesting tragic things in history.

The fact that only a few meters away, the lost media video " LOL superman" was filmed.

i remember this clip being in a documentary i watched in middle school history class. randomly remembered it today and it still fucks me up how those banging sounds you hear every few seconds is people’s bodies hitting the ground. to quote one of the firefighters from the documentary: “…you know that somebody else just died. somebody else just died. somebody else just died.”

it’s super eerie but also calming at the same time. idk why? the happy music with the chaos happening in the background mixed together puts my mind to a halt.

This is so thoroughly haunting yet in an addictive way. It’s disturbing yet you can’t take your eyes away from it. It’s beautiful in a dark twisted and tragic way. Nothing will ever replace those proud twin towers representing America and all its pride, and even then nothing, no terrorists, no organizations, no attacks will ever stop American pride and will never ever stop those Stars and Stripes from flying proud.

21 years on from 9/11 and this is still hard to watch. RIP to all those lives lost.

The tragedy is that it was a beautiful blue skied filled day. And those people having to decide whether or not to take their lives or stay and be engulfed in flames. They can see those blue skies out of those open windows and hear this music playing below them as if nothing should be wrong as they were forced to make that horrible decision.

First time I saw this video, it planted itself in my mind forever. Incredibly tragic and surreal
