Megan and her teammates were offered the SAME contract the men were, and they refused, because the men's contract was a high-risk contract that would pay more only if they performed better. Megan choose a LOW-RISK contract with more money up front. As you know, the men ended up getting paid more for their CHOICE to take the high risk contract.

I had a job a few years back, where my boss would hire the black girls with no experience at hire pay than I was getting with 5 years experience and a college education. He was afraid of being labeled as a racist so he just gave what they asked for. I was appalled that people actually have that level of control. Athlete pay is based almost entirely on how much revenue you bring in. Women's sports bring in almost nothing when compared to men's sports. They're probably overpaid, really.

You should read the court case that the women's team lost on this very topic. Turned out they were actually being paid more. The men's team only gets paid for winning. No pay for second or third. No health insurance or any other benefits. They have to have another job or play on another team altogether when not competing for the men's Olympic team.

Women's team gets health insurance and gets paid for 2nd and 3rd places. Yes they get paid less for 1st but they get paid for not coming in first where the men don't.

That court case was very eye opening.

The women's team's contract provids for guaranteed pay, health benefits, and maternity leave. The men's team, while they may have been paid more for each game played as such, did not include any of those extra benefits. In 2020, neither league played any games because of a certain virus that shall remain anonymous. The men were not paid a penny because they didn't play any games. The women were paid their guaranteed salaries even though they didn't pay any games, either.

It should also be noted that the women were offered essentially the same contract as the men -- but they rejected it because they wanted the added benefits.

What it Ben fails to also mention is that men generally take more dangerous jobs such as mining and drilling and are willing to travel to those places to do those dangerous jobs. Women generally do not do those jobs.

Whenever I hear people say, "even women who work outside of the home do more of the household chores", I always respond by saying what has that got to do with your employer how you run your personal affairs in your own household"...."give me more money my husband wont wash the dishes?" The US women’s soccer team may be good...against women. In 2017 the US Women’s soccer team faced off against FC Dallas under 15 years old boys team. The women lost soundly 5-2. If these women can’t beat a group of teenagers who balls just recently dropped, what makes them think that they should be paid as much as guys who do bring in the cash? The same thing happened in Australia with their women’s national soccer team. They were beaten by 14 year olds as well.

Let's put this in perspective, the US women's soccer team is good compared to other women's soccer teams... But the fact that they lost to a high school boys team tells you everything you need to know about how good they are in the entire scheme of things

If they had a man playing on the women's soccer team and getting paid more than the women then they would have a point. Comparing the men's versus women's is a like comparing apples and oranges. It's not the same team.

Some years ago in the UK, Birmingham City Council lost a case brought by school dinner ladies claiming the same wage as binmen, because working for the same employer apparently meant they did the same job. The court-ordered back-payment amounting to several million pounds (of taxpayers' money) bankrupt the city, leading to reduced services and the capping of ALL wages for ALL blue collar employees lest the dinner ladies wanted 'equality' with whoever was highest paid.

Fast forward a few years, and the binmen who'd seen their wages cut year on year since the court order went on strike and the streets piled up with rubbish. This coincided with the summer (school) holidays when school dinner ladies were not working, so you can imagine my surprise when not a single one of them stepped up to do 'the same job' as they normally did and clear the streets.
