It's so interesting that people are still not accounting for personal choice. I too believed in the pay gap for a long time and then the Netflix show "Adam Ruins Everything" did an episode on it awhile back and it clicked. Especially when it accurately reflected the reality of choices a lot of the women I knew personally were making. It just made sense.

Years ago, my husband came to me asking why I didn't stand up for myself, when it came to our pay differences, at our place of employment. We worked at the same business, and he made $3/hr more than I did, for the exact same job, just din different parts of the store.

I had to explain to him that I get more pay leave up to 6 months for having our child, insurance is cheaper for females vs males, and I get an overall better schedule that will accomendate to being a mother vs a dad or man, I also am allowed better general sick days due to children being sick. After that I said, "I think if nothing else, I make more than you do." 🤷🏻‍♀️

Edit: He asked me this before we were married and while I was pregnant with our child. We split everything 50/50 bills wise. Now married, I still have the same belief and experience.

Your point about there being no consequences for the people that dream up these political lies, is spot on. A great book about that very thing, is Intellectuals and Race, by Dr. Thomas Sowell. He argues that these people that go on these shows, with all these bright ideas, have no consequences when they are wrong. They don't get elected out. They don't get fired. They just keep marching along, as if their ideas didn't destroy the lives of millions of people.

You can't trick a Capitalist. If they could hire women, at a lower rate, for the same work, then they would already be doing it. There would be companies staffed by nothing but women, to save on wages. It's disappointing a premise that can be refuted with two sentences, can persist for decades. Did they never hear my point, from someone else? Of course that isn't the case; they just refuse to accept reality, if it doesn't fit their narrative.
