The young man didn't want to go down. He was scared. He just didn't want his father to go without him on Father's Day weekend.

It’s amazing the lies surrounding this rescue. It never actually was a rescue. The Navy knew all along it had imploded. There was nothing to rescue. Then they said the search area was 1000 square miles yet the sub imploded 1600 feet from the titanic.

Oceangate was aware the carbon fiber was becoming compromised from previous dives. Oceangate attorneys in consultation with Polar Prince's attorneys decided not to launch the submersible from Polar Prince anymore, but instead tow the submersible on it's platform behind Polar Prince when going out to sea. The platform itself was registered as a barge under Oceangate. At no time was titan to be brought upon Polar Prince. Polar Prince attorneys were adamant about this based on perceived liability. There was also an incident last year on a dive where Stockton Rush heard excessive abnormal cracking sounds coming from the hull. On a follow up dive Stockton Rush refused to board or pilot the submersible, he directed another Oceangate employee to pilot it. That dive can be seen on BBC Take Me To Titanic.

Not all is as it appears. James Cameron did an interview about this missing sub and the whole Titanic thing. Basically he and several dozen other experts knew immediately what had happened to that submarine and as soon as it happened. Also, indisputably knew exactly where it was - at the last point of contact on the bottom. They heard it blow up and saw it on the bottom in the very first scan. Why did they search for 7 days and call in dozens of ships, military and civilian, to cover a 10, 056 square mile search area? Let me tell you why, they weren't looking for THAT submarine, they were looking for the K-329 Belgorod, and that's a big freakin' deal.

The Belgorod is the newest Russian nuclear submarine and the largest in commission. It also carries the very latest in Russian strategic nuclear weapons (big ones) and launched late last year on its maiden voyage to the North Atlantic for weapons testing. It was last spotted in February.

The Titanic was only 1, 300 miles from New York when it sank, in the North Atlantic...very easily within that 10, 056 mile search area.

In 1978 the US secretly converted a commercial ship into a makeshift recovery boat in order to raise a sunken Russian submarine K-129. This was the deepest recovery mission ever attempted (that we know about) and was partially successful, they got part of it.

In 1985 Robert Ballard found the Titanic after the US Navy hired him to find two missing nuclear submarines, USS Scorpion and USS Thresher, in the North Atlantic, both of which had sank in the 1960's.

Right now Russia is pretty tied up, it's Navy isn't really too involved but it's not hard to imagine if this thing went down that the US would be able to get there first. I'm sure that the one sub going down was a tragic accident but the Navy jumped to take full advantage of the situation.

The K-329 may have not even sank. This could all have easily been a creative and resourceful way for the Navy to simply locate it. The Belgorod is supposedly a new class of stealth sub so why not? It's something I'd do. Additionally if anyone is interested in learning more about the Belgorod, Google "Russia's Doomsday Sub" for a better perspective on why it's a big deal.

There are no remains to retrieve. It's a burial at sea and that sub was the coffin

It’s unbelievable that Oceangate didn’t report that they lost communication with the Titan until 5:30 pm to the Coast Guard. Hopefully, this awful incident will allow better oversights concerning private companies like this.

Did you guys hear about the 80 refugees that died crossing the ocean?

Millions expended for their recovery and the Navy already knew they imploded. How come billionaires get this treatment meanwhile diabetics still have to ration their insulin in this country? I am not mourning them.

Plane crashes with 100’s of people get 5 mins on the news. 5 millionaires and the world is worried?

"Worst fears for people around the world."

Lol You mean the obvious thing that happens when you do something stupid like use a submarine past it's a recommended depth?

I think more people care about the recent refugee lives lost, not some rich people who can't think of better things to do with their money.
