Pamela Anderson opens up to 'Elle' about the emotional reason behind her decision to go makeup free in recent years. The 'Baywatch' alum says her longtime makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, was 'the best,' and she felt it was the right decision to leave her iconic glam looks in the past after Alexis died from breast cancer in 2019.

I love how she went vegan FOR the animals and NOT her health way back before it became a celeb "health trend" (which I don't mind because it still reduces animal suffering and exploitation). She speaks from the heart, and everyone who's met, worked with or knows her personally has said she's very kind. Even at the peak of her career, she's always seemed humble (from the interviews and celebrity news videos I've seen). It takes guts for a woman in the spotlight to not wear makeup but the fact that she did it as a mourning for the loss of her beloved friend is heartwarming and shows her genuine personality.

I used to think that if women stopped wearing makeup they had let themselves go. That in order to be put together you had to wear makeup. Now, after giving it up myself, I realized it is not letting yourself go, it is letting go of the unrealistic and sometimes detrimental beauty standards that the beauty industry creates in order to sell products. No one naturally has colour on top of their eyes, blush is not naturally at the top part pf your cheekbones, we don't naturally have red lips, and most women when they are young don't have gaunt faces they have plump faces. They deliberately create unrealistic beauty standards so we are forced to buy products to meet those standards. If we had realistic beauty standards we wouldn't need to buy the products to "fix" women's "flaws" and the beauty industry would go out of business. I didn't let myself go, I learnt to love my God-given beauty. These standards made me very insecure growing up. I did not like my face without makeup. Giving up makeup was so freeing and I now have a lot of confidence. At the same time I don't judge people who wear makeup at all. I have been there and I understand the appeal and vice makeup can have. I just wanted to post this for the women who are struggling with self-esteem issues due to the beauty industry. They profit off your low self-esteem therefore it is beneficial to them to make you feel ugly.

She's had quite a life and her soul still shines. Be well, Pam

If you haven't watched her documentary, watch it. It's very good. I love how she said she did what she thought was right for her kids at the time. As mothers, we do what we feel is in the best interest of our children. I also, like that she was in Chicago on Broadway and never gave up that dream. Gives inspiration to others that chose to be moms first. It's never too late to try to fulfill your dreams. I really enjoyed the documentary.

Sometimes we get tired of wearing make up. I do and it feels so good not to have anything on your face. 🙂

Her personal makeup artist was my friend & I suspect that's why Pam is quitting. Alexis was amazing ❤

Pam loves animals. She cares and helps animals, big time. She’s not “quitting” make up, but I don’t mind whatever she does. She’s a fine human being.

I never wear makeup and never felt I needed it. Glad she is promoting natural beauty. She still wears minimal makeup though.

I seriously adore Pamela. She's gotten a lot of hate and a lot of flack over the years for doing Playboy and stuff. But, in EVERY interview or documentary or anything, she's ALWAYS so sweet. She's always so humble and down to Earth and very very kind. She's just got such a sweet soul. And she's VERY passionate about animals and children. She's just an amazing human being. Who cares what she did when she was young! She got it out of her system and moved on to bigger and BETTER things! And thank God she hasn't gone and messed up her face with all kinds of filler and stuff. She looks just as stunningly beautiful as she did 20 years ago, with or without makeup! She's gorgeous! I have not watched the documentary or read the book yet. But, I seriously can't wait to do either! 🤍🤍🤍

Seeing as the image of Pamela is the sex pot with blonde hair and smoky eyes, the real Pamela is just the girl next door sweetheart, and she’s so stunning. She never really needed makeup but it just enhanced her mystique.

I love pamela and I love her relationship with her sons. She clearly adores them and vice versa.

Love Pamela! She obviously still wears makeup but I think what she means is that she embraces makeup free days and is happy to wear little or no makeup publicly. She does not identify herself with the glam look anymore and feels free to be more natural.
