Thanks for this man. I was about to buy a nano puff hoody but this made me reconsider. i have a down sweater, but was considering the nano puff because they say it's warm when and since you say that's not true, i might as well stick to my down sweater

I bought one and use it for camping. Great look and keeps me warm in autunm weather in UK.

Just to clarify, it's a synthetic fill (Primaloft), not Down

I wear it as only layer on biking in the winter, for me wind is no problem ( and yes I’m fast) . And I even when it wet after biking or a long hike it is warm

I bought this exact same jacket (even the same color) almost a year ago. I live in New England, so we get some pretty cold and harsh weather in the winter. I've been a big fan of Patagonia for years and I was drawn in by the aesthetic of this jacket since it looks great with just about anything, but I agree that it is definitely overpriced. Most retailers sell this jacket for nearly $300, which I think is a bit excessive for what this jacket offers, but then again, you are definitely paying for the premium Patagonia name with the Primaloft. It's definitely not windproof, at least not as much as some other jackets I've owned (North Face, Columbia, etc.). It did keep me pretty warm last winter, but if you're going to be spending a decent amount of time outdoors (which I plan to this winter), I would definitely go with something a bit heavier. Again, this is a VERY nice looking jacket that pairs well with anything and it will keep you warm if you're just out and about in the cold weather, but I don't think that the price is justified for what it offers. It's starting to get cold here (29 degrees as I write this) and I just broke mine out for the first time since last winter to take with me on a trip this weekend. It's probably been about 8 months since I've worn it, so we'll see how it performs!

In this context, it seems you may be confusing the term “down” with “puffy”, as this is not a down jacket.

You're right: Patagonia should not advertise the baffled design as 'windproof' as none of them are. In fact, short of Gore-Tex 3 layer shell (or a bison hide) nothing is windproof.
This jacket is meant for layering or high output activity, not tenting in the cold.
Quality-wise, Patagonia is top notch and their warranty is outstanding. I own a ton of tech clothing - Patagonia, Arc'teryx, Outdoor Research, Mountain Hardwear, Rab etc - and I'd say the first two are firmly at the top.
For more static activities I'd recommend down or shelling.
And no, it's not a down jacket. 😉

The Nano Puff is not a down jacket - that's what Patagonia's Down Sweater is for. Duh. Also, by using synthetics instead of down you can get wet and you'll retain warmth - compared to a down jacket. Last point to be made is that constantly carrying it compressed isn't of course going to do its longevity any favors. People think that just because the thing is expensive they can use and abuse the hell out it, and somehow, it will remain unscathed. You're not just paying for the jacket itself, but for the eco-friendly production chain process.. SMH

You don't believe it will keep You warm if wet, but - did You tested it? Because all other reviewers says exactly what Patagonia claims - it will keep warmness while being wet, but down jacket won't.

Muy interesante video y se ve increíble con el gorro puesto. Y, deade mi perspectiva, comrpar en patagonia no siempre es un reflejo de calidad, sino mas bien comprar pensando en la sustentabilidad y daño al medioambiente.

How tall are you for reference on the fit? I’m 6’1 and a little worried about the length

Primaloft isn’t proprietary to Patagonia, nor is it down

Me and an old roommates mom and sister used to do merch at concerts in the Bay Area.. SF can get nasty cold and windy and we'd be outside for 10-15 hours a day. My little sister had been gifted a nano Puff.. long story short, she was the only person that was warm and dry all the time. I was proud she rocked the path gear too. I miss that girl. Anyways, Patagonias H2NO is just as trusted as gore-tex to me but doesn't destroy the planet and costs less.. and is made better. Sa, e with their insulated layers like this. Just buy Pata.. lifetime no-recipt needed warranty.
