My dad flew his 22nd mission on his 21st birthday as the Command Pilot of a B-17 Crew flying 35 missions over Italy and Germany during WWII. One time their mission was protected by the Tuskegee Airmen, which everyone of His Crew greaty appreciated. I always thought the B-17 was the coolest looking ship that I've ever seen. Dad was a Great Pilot. And He kept in touch with his Crew as the years went by which I always thought was very cool. It's awesome to see this Ship restored and flying again. God Bless these Folks for their Beautiful Efforts.

What the kids who flew these planes into fortress Europe did is incomprehensible by today's standards. How and where did we lose their kind of character and courage?

There's something very special about the sound of those engines. The sound of history maybe. What a plane. Magnificent.

These engineering masterpieces are still flying! Many have only been maintained, not fully restored

Had the pleasure of flying in the B17 Aluminum Overcast several yrs back & sat in the radio compartment wondering what these guys thought of before takeoff 80yrs ago. Brought up goosebumps. God bless them all.

My Father was a Radio Operator and Waste gunner on a B-17 in the 8th Air Force in WWII. He was 18 when he started flying missions over Europe .

A thing of beauty! There's something special about 1930's & 40's technology. Raw, pure human engineering. Something lost in today's all computer based systems and designs.

They had to be fearless and scared shitless all at the same time.

I cannot look at a B17 without thinking of the work and sacrifices my dad went thru as a gunnery instructor on B17s during WWIII.
Thank you Dad and thank you to all those like you whom sacrificed to help keep this country free !!!

My son and I flew on the Sentimental journey in Colorado. It was the most thrilling experience of our lives. I went to see her again in 2019 in the hanger. These planes our part of our history and younger generation should see them.

My profile picture was taken in the pilot's seat of this incredible bird. I even had the privilege to help walk the props through, for a test run after a repair. Many thanks to everyone involved with keeping this special piece of history in the air! It's an incredible machine, with an incredible crew!

These planes are getting older and so are the pilots/maintainers. How can the next generation ensure these stay alive? Man, what an amazing historical aircraft.

I toured this plane thirty years ago. I was not ready for the emotional impact when I sat in the pilot's seat. Those brave young men flew planes like this to save MY freedom, even though I was not yet born. I owe them my deepest gratitude!

Boy oh Boy did this bring back the memories of my Sentimental Journey B-17 flight in the right gunner position. Anyone with interest should smile paying for the honor and the privilege of experiencing a remarkable legendary bird, The Flying Fortress, restored to better than new condition by the experts, donors, and volunteers at CAF in Arizona. Thank You All. And to all those legends who never returned home, and all the vets and heroes who flew in them to make our country and this world a safer place, a massive God Bless and Thank You for your service, to us in the USA.
