The Country Where Down Syndrome is Disappearing

Down syndrome is disappearing in Iceland. Since prenatal screening tests were introduced in the early 2000s, almost 100% of women who had a positive test for Down syndrome decided to terminate their pregnancy. The tests are optional, but all expectant mothers are informed about availability of the screening test. According to Landspitali University Hospital in Reykjavik, around 80 to 85 percent of pregnant women choose to take the prenatal screening test.

The information on the source website has been removed. What number is “almost 100%“ of terminated pregnancies with positive down syndrome detection if 80-85% of women are taking the screening test? is the number of terminated pregnancies be within that range or are there other factors?
