Why is Windows file search so slow?

Yet in the old days we had 2 searches, one for file specific and one for content. file specific was over in a heartbeat.

It's incredible to me how I can search the web in 0.016 seconds but it takes half an hour to find something on my local PC.

I once searched for something in windows.
It took a hell lot of time, so in the meantime I downloaded "everything" and searched for the same thing.
It only took several seconds for everything to find this file and it was BEFORE windows search managed to find it.

I just use Everything, indexes the whole drive with 0 resource cost.

macOS indexes everything by default, and it takes forever to build, especially on a hard drive. But once it's built, the search works beautifully.

Nice Video, except the fact, that the filesearch on Windows straight up just DOESN'T FIND THE FILES. I'm fine with it being slow, I mean, there's technically no way around it, but it has to at least find the desired files...

I also don't get how Windows Search regularly just refuses to show me apps that are installed on my pc...

A thing that additionally pisses me off about windows search is that when you search it lists results in some kind of phantom directory instead of just highlighting it in the explorer window as you'd expect from any usable operating system

the worst part is that it spends all this time searching for a file you KNOW you have, and it still turns over no results.

Well I do have my SSD and HDD entirely indexed and since then I've had no problems searching for anything. Results are instant and are always what I wanted. 10/10 recommend you guys to index your entire drives !
