These new rounds are all really cool, the 6.5 Grendel is one of my favorites, same with 6.8 SPC. But my favorite intermediate cartridge will always be 7.62 x 39. It's cheap, plentiful, and gets the job done no matter if you're hunting....or in a firefight haha

Pindell and Palmisano started with the 220 russian case for ease of forming. The ARC is the 6 PPC.

Glad someone else recognized the 6PPC it’s the parent of the 6 ARC Hornady just changed the shoulder angle so they could say they made a” NEW” cartridge! No Palmisano and Pindell made the 6PPC in 1975 as a benchrest round. Oh yeah Hornady put a faster twist in the barrel . They didn’t come up with the idea, they just took credit for it though .

I’ve been saying this. All of these new round in some way or another are very similar to the 7.62x39.

it should be known that the 220 russian is the parent case to all.

it should also be mentioned that the 6ppc is the king of small groups. At short range anyway.

Is that cow 13th edition? From my understanding, the 7.62x 39 case was modified and necked down to make the .220 Russian . In the 1970s the .220 Russian case was ran through a computer optimization program . With those changes, the PPC case was derived. Named for the two people who designed it Dr Louis palmisano and ferris pindell, they made a .22 and then 6mm... Which became the most accurate and consistent cartridge ever devised.

Then why does 7ARC use a standard AR mag and not a 7.62 style weirdly curved AR mag?

WRONG 🚫 .220 Russian is the parent case for the .22 PPC, 6mm PPC and the 6.5mm Grendel while the 6.5mm Grendel is the parent case for the 6mm ARC.

Isnt a 7.62 necked down to .22 pretty much the 5.45 cartridge
