West Seattle streets to get more speed cushions, humps in latest bid to curb street racing

Efforts are underway to reconfigure several major thoroughfares in West Seattle to cut down on street racing and other dangerous driving.

Speed humps and other traffic-calming measures will soon be installed along Harbor Ave SW, Alki Ave SW, and 56th Ave SW. The design phase has concluded and the work to install concrete speed cushions can begin.

Seattle Department of Transportation plans to nearly double the number of existing speed bumps already in place.

Literally 20 years ago in a smaller city in Florida an acquaintance of mine got a $500 street racing ticket but Seattle JUST NOW has that ability.

See that's your problem, only a 500 fine for street racing? That's like a slap on the wrist. Speed bumps just put unnecessary wear on every law abiding citizen's vehicle. Actually hold criminals responsible and you'll stop this problem instead of having to rely on hostile architecture. In my city we didn't defund our police and street racing is almost unheard of here. Soft on crime policies is just dumb. Really, you expect to install speed bumps everywhere? Because that's what'll it take

Speed bumps are everywhere in India and they get annoying really quickly. In my hometown I faced more speed breakers than potholes

I’m so tired of Seattle fucking cars over. We have the worst road layout in the world. Zero parking, bike lanes everywhere, tolls as far as the eye can see. literally Seattle could not make it more obvious they don’t want people to have ownership of a vehicle.
