00:00 JLC Reverso Watch Review Introduction

Among luxury watches, one that’s highly regarded by enthusiasts and connoisseurs is the Reverso by Jaeger-LeCoultre, with its ever-attractive and recognizable rectangular shape. As the watch comes with a hefty price tag, we think it warrants a close examination to know whether or not it’s worth your hard-earned money.

01:35 History of the brand JLC and the watch itself

02:59 What is a Reverso Watch and what makes it special?
The Reverso watch is a classic art deco model with a rectangular face that is flippable and the name being inspired by the Latin word “reverso,” which means “turn around.”

07:13 Watches Available from JLC Today

11:50 What Do JLC Reversos Cost?
If you’re on a budget but you really love the watch, I think you can find used models around $2,000, $2,200 depending on the shape they’re in.

13:17 Is A Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Watch a Good Investment?

If you just look at it from a pure investment angle, you have to say that watches, in general, are maybe not the best investment unless you love watches and you like to wear them while you hope that the value increases over time.

Let’s assume you like watches and you want something that holds its value or ideally increases in value. In that case, we think that Rolex is a better buy and we explained why in our review of Rolex Watches. We also think Patek Philippe is probably a better investment watch.

17:23 The Construction of the Reverso
If you don’t go for a gold option, the entry-level version is stainless steel. The original intent of the Reverso was to be a protective watch and was supposed to be worn playing polo.

19:19 The Style of the Reverso
In a time where many men think that bigger watches are always better, the Reverso offers an option for people with smaller wrists who like smaller watches but also accommodates men who want bigger watches. You can also get the Reverso in a thin version with a slim profile, which I personally like.

We don’t foresee the Reverso to ever go out of style. It is simplistic on the one hand, yet very characteristic and just very versatile. Also, in our minds, it’s a more elegant look than many other luxury watches out there.

20:07 The Big Question: Is It Worth It?
So, ultimately, considering all those factors, it probably doesn’t come as a surprise to you that the JLC Reverso is worth it. But, if you’re just out there trying to find the watch that gives you the biggest bang for the buck and the best potential to increase in value, you’re probably better off going with the Rolex watch.

Today I had just visited a Jaeger-LeCoultre store in Ginza for the first time shopping for a dress watch.

Great video! Just one thing: 30m of water resistance does NOT mean you can go diving this deep with it, not even technically. It only describes the static pressure resistance, but little movements under water already increase the pressure significantly. A 30m watch is merely resistant to splash water and you shouldn't even go under the shower with it. Still a lovely watch which I would love to own one day. Keep up the good stuff!

Yes, there is an understated elegance of smaller but classical designed timepieces that seems to escape the attention of today’s market.

JLC is one of few brand who didn’t lost their brand goal for the latest trends

Excellent video and coverage of the brand and its history. Worth it for a watch is always a difficult question as it is an emotional purchase and not really an investment in the same way that classic clothing is. For watch enthusiasts, a JLC Reverso will likely be worth it but for more casual watch wearers, an affordable alternative like a Seiko or even a quartz Cartier may make more sense. As a JLC Reverso 976 owner myself, I absolutely love the timepiece so it's worth it to me.

I personally think that maybe... But just maybe... The reverso can make a big comeback like the cartier santos or tank did. There are good chances that these watches will find lots of new, young fans.

I am a 😎 proud owner of 5 Reverso. They are classic watches that hold their value, are high quality timepieces for a fraction of the price compared to the overated/inflated price "keep it with the Jones's" Rolex!

Of all the content featuring this watch available, this is one of the best. Really engaging; which is surprising given the length of the video.

I got my Grande Taille Reverso in 1999, and is still running today. I do believe the Reversos from the 1990s were not water resistant. Only on the later iterations did JLC start putting a rubber gasket around the movement to help improve water resistance.

Congratulations Mr. Schneider !!
For a men's fashion channel, the subject was very well developed
Reverso is an iconic watch, certainly worth it!

I've been learning more about the brand lately. Really amazing brand with some original and cool looking designs. Nice vintage vibe without looking 'old' but classy. That model you wore with the silver dial and brown strap is gorgeous.... But not sold new anymore.... Guess I'll have to look around for it!

Great video!

even Ihsahn, a well-known as singer and guitarrist from the Black Metal Band "Emperor" have a Reverso (with personal signature and a custom made strap form JLC), so not only for classic style, the reverso fits, but also for the most antyclassic standpoint of black metal xD. But, it make sense, to protect the watch on the stage, so he use it for the intended purpose ;). from a horological standpoint, there is almost no other watch, that is so iconic like the Reverso. it was the first "sports watch" and layed the foundation for watches like the Nautilus or the Royal Oak.

To me, JLC is the best watchmaker in the world for the simple reason that 2 of the 3 brands of the holy Trinity, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet has for sure multiple times in the history received JLC movements in their watches, there’s a reason why they called them the watchmaker’s watchmaker
