I use a single dropper rig to surf fish alot. I typically make my loop about 10" from the weight and then fish a 4-5" swimming mullet or soft plastic. I mostly use 1/2" oz. No more than 1 oz. and then just a slow retrieve. Works very good for flounder. Occasionally I will put a spro jig on the bottom tipped with swimming mullet, live bait or squid.
