Is basing major (emphasis on "major") life decisions using logic, reason, mathematical odds, evidence, and the scientific method a negatively cynical way about going through life which may result in a social disconnect with others ?

OR

Is basing major (emphasis on "major") life decisions using subjective feelings, emotions, hopes, wants, and ancient traditions a naively ignorant way to live a life which may result in repeating the same mistakes over and over again, or at the minimum, never allowing yourself to learn and grow?

ARE THE TWO MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE?

When do (or should) we make (major) life decisions based on feelings, emotions, wants, and hopes? And when do (or should) we make decisions based on logic and reason?

I'm not suggesting anything here because I myself don't know.
