Can’t believe Tommy Tallarico would upload plagiarism on Internet Historian’s channel.

SlopLIVE knows more about plagiarism than anyone else due to him being a victim of the heinous "PyroLIVE".

What is really disappointing is the title not including the words drama, crazy or insane

I don't think Internet Historian ever did acknowledge this; he just tried to pretend nothing ever happened really.

Yes, every time I got a reply bitching about this comment’s length, I made it longer. It was 100 words. You did this to yourselves.
Also, I’m editing this on my phone, I’m hitting return, adding paragraph breaks, but it’s not showing up consistently for everyone. I’m going to hit the enter key a few more times and hope it makes this more digestible.

This is why you’re forced to learn how to use citations in highschool and above. If you’re quoting someone verbatim, which is fine if they’ve worded something in a way more eloquent or appropriate than you could’ve mustered, you’re 100% allowed to do it if you acknowledge the source with appropriate in-text citation and include them in your bibliography. It IS theft if you just… take their writing and reword it slightly and call it a day. If someone else did the legwork for the research you’re basing your work on, you owe it to them to show them some courtesy, especially if you’re taking their material FOR FREE and MONETIZING it.

Having nearly finished the video (I am extremely close), I can confirm holy shit IH plagiarized the hell out of the video. It’s “transformative” in the sense that it shifts around some words, which isn’t “transformative, ” it’s just poorly covering your tracks. He should have said up front that he was adapting the work someone else wrote, but it’s in him just trying to bury his plagiarism and uploading a re-written, worse video that’s damning. There’s zero plausible deniability.

Update: surprised this comment still sees activity. I guess Slop has a longer shelf life than any of us could’ve guessed. I see some comments arguing that IH did nothing wrong, and I need to make something abundantly clear. You cannot ask for someone’s permission to adapt their work AFTER you used and monetized their work. While I can see why some would consider it flattering to have such a… prestigious creator make a video about something you wrote, you must understand three things.

One, at no point in the original upload did IH give any credit to the article writer. IH didn’t just plagiarize the article’s content and sources, he plagiarized the original writer’s style completely, from the format of the story being told through hour by hour, to a lot of the imagery and prose used by the article. With the reuploaded video, you can see where IH had to replace the plagiarized material with his own, and it completely fails to capture the magic of the original writing. I’m really not sure why IH wasn’t comfortable with being more open about the source of the article, because as a “historian, ” his work is almost entirely based on research and work done by other people. I have no idea what possessed him to commit such an act of plagiarism, maybe he wanted to seem smart, or intelligent, or worldly by putting out this video that made it seem like he had done a ton of research, but it’s a much worse look for someone to be a plagiarist than it is to be someone who read someone else’s article.

Second, there’s a place for the narration of documents and articles. It makes them more digestible and accessible to a wider audience. IH has a lovely voice. By all means, if IH didn’t make the video, the story wouldn’t be as widely known as it is today. But IH’s contribution to the story are some rudimentary animations with famous YouTubers acting as stand-ins for historical figures. It is like those videos on TikTok where someone uploads movie clips or uses TTS to narrate Reddit posts, but adds subway surfers gameplay or Minecraft parkour to the bottom of the screen, but even then, those videos, despite how immoral I find them, at the very least give credit to the users/ source material.

Third, and finally, you must understand the importance of a script. A script is often times the first thing produced for any creative work, and is the skeleton that everything is built on, it dictates flow, emotion, pacing, structure, literally everything is based on the initial script. IH, by just plagiarizing the article, allowed the original writer to do the most difficult and essential part of content creation. IH used the same narrative structure, the same hour-by-hour framing device, the same imagery, the same sources, the same twists and turns, everything is lifted wholesale from the article, all he had to do was provide narration and animate some pngs bouncing around. The video’s quality is based on the work of a man which IH didn’t credit, either out of negligence or intent, and I will let you attribute his motives for yourself.

And I really liked IH’s videos too. I’ve watched many of them multiple times. That’s what makes this situation so disheartening, and it’s why there’s so much turmoil in just the replies to this comment. I don’t know if I can continue to watch IH in good faith from this point forward. By all means, you can still watch and like his content, but if everything I’ve brought up at all upsets you, I would encourage you to consider why you feel this way.

Dolan is innocent because if he stole the whole script that means that "hopefully no one finds out I stole this entire video script from a smaller youtuber" is also part of the script meaning that dolan stole from a thief which isn't a crime

The funniest part about the whole thing is, that if he just said "Hey, guise.. I read this one article, and I really loved it.. I decided that it's so good it deserves a goofy low budget youtube movie. This is the guy who wrote it and here is a link.." nobody would really give a shit.. Even the author would probably be fine with a youtuber doing something this high effort with his work if he wasn't blatantly ripping him off without crediting...

I like how hbomberguy calls out content farms like drama channels for being slop, and yet drama channels like these completely miss the point because they need that YouTube money I guess.

We shouldn't call it plagiarism anymore. Its too boring, too many syllables in one word. We should instead call it Sssniperwolfed. Its trendy, more relevant, fresh and gives us a reason to insult actual trash content
