Arrival Honors and Signing of the Guest Book of President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea

Anchored on strengthening the more than seven-decade-long ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. received President Yoon Suk Yeol in Malacañan Palace during his state visit on 7 October 2024.

This is the first State Visit to the Philippines of the South Korean President upon the invitation of President Marcos Jr.

The two leaders are expected to discuss matters in various areas of cooperation that highlight the robust diplomatic ties of the Philippines and South Korea. These include political, security and defense, maritime, economic and development fields, and people-to-people ties.

They are also set to exchange views on current regional and international issues, as well as reaffirm the vibrant and dynamic relations between the two countries.

President Yoon’s visit is the first standalone bilateral visit of a South Korean President to the country since 2011. It also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea, which formally began on 3 March 1949.
