These are the worst engines you can buy because they have all kinds of issues and problems that will leave you with high car bills. Your ownership costs and maintenance costs will be high, and your bank account will be low.

The car engine is the soul of the car, so an unreliable engine will have you spending your life repairing your car. I'll show you engines from BMW, Land Rover, Jaguar, Cadillac, and more!

We have 2 Cadillac CTS 3 litre V6 cars. 2010 and a 2011, the 2011 all wheel drive. Other than oil change and regular maintenance (filters, checkups, battery, fluids), virtually no problems. They run perfectly. Dependable. Never an engine, transmission, or oil leak problem.

My brother is a mechanic at a Chevrolet/Cadillac dealership. DON'T EVER BUY A GM 3.6. ANY MODEL ANY YEAR! Like you said. Timing chain issues.

Also, junk engines to avoid at all costs are the 2.3 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine from Mazda and the 3 L V6 engine from Toyota. They were poor in reliability back then.

Bro I love how fair you are, you're not showing any favor to that C300 because you own one.

I was actually started to look at Mercedes as an alternative, BMW has become overrated, even with the B58, Lexus has become ridiculously over priced that its hard to justify the value for money we used to see in going for one, because today you can even pick up a 2020/2021 BMW 540i with the B58 for far cheaper than a 2022 Lexus IS350 F Sport and lets face it, 1 year difference between the brands doesn't justify the price gap, so my wife and I started looking at Mercedes a brand to consider but there's limited content on youtube about modern Mercs reliability, so this adds some much needed clarity to heed

I call the Defender the Pretender. I am absolutely curious to see how the TTV6 jn the new Tundra fairs and also the new Turbo 4 in the Tacoma. We will see.

The GM 3.6 L DOHC engine was very smooth and powerful-the timing chains wore out because the oil sensor was telling you that 10, 000 mile oil change intervals were OK. Mine went at 140, 000 miles.

My dad and I had the 1991 Astro Van with that 4.3 V6 engine you mentioned. We bought it with 70k in 1995, and eventually we sold the car with 270k miles on it in 2006. And the engine did not have any issues during that whole time 😅

Cadillacs has always been some very beautiful looking cars and SUV’s. BUT…… why have the company continue to put destructive engines and transmissions in their vehicles? 😮😮😮

The most reliable engines are made by Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Maybe Nissan and Mazda also!

Another informative and interesting report. This trend to four cylinder engines (with turbo's) is worrying. Even the new Lexus RX has one. I cannot imagine a Jaguar with one. Remember the E-Type which I think had a V-12. At a minimum a Jaguar should at least have a reliable six cylinder engine.

The GM 3.6 liter had problems early on the production. But the problem was solved in later years.

If it is from Europe or Korea, don't keep it past warranty.

I just bought a 2019 e300 (19, 000 miles) with the M274 engine. Fortunately I coughed up the money for an extended warranty. I have my fingers crossed and only use 93 octane fuel and I’m going to have the dealer change the oil every 4500 miles just to make sure that the warranty company doesnt have any excuses if it blows up. Its really a shame because I love my car but I think that once the warranty coverage is over (6 years, 100, 000 miles) Ill be getting a different car. Ive been buying Mercedes cars for over thirty years but from the nightmare scenarios I’ve heard lately I think that this will be my last one.

It sucks to be scared that every time I start the engine could end up with a catastrophic failure.

I wonder why that Infinity uses the same engine (Renault designed) from the same plant and yet you never hear of problems from them?

I’m fed up with the car industry! Guess what, it’s all become a political stance world wide!

there are some great engines out of North America as the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado old 3.0 L 2.8 L 1GD-FTV or new 2.8 L 1GD-FTV which are basically unbreakables !!
