Long rant for ASD. I might offend some people here, but it’s worth the risk.

Good video. I am also a therapist who works with kids with autism and ADHD. Not all autism is the same. Some people who are grouped undered the umbrella of an ASD diagnosis can be cured or nearly cured. However, people who have genetic anomalies possess the same or similar symptoms but for different reasons -& therefore, will always struggle in areas. Movement, (esp of head dring proprioceptive activities), "just-right" challenges and audiovisual-vestbular therapies are key for recovery. Also, limit screen time to 1 hour per day or less and get rid of synthetic dyes (esp red & yellow), synth additives and preservatives in the diet that are negatively impacting the brain. Parents should also put down their devices and pay attention to their kids.

Autism is a difference rather than a disorder in certain circles. Autistic people live in a world that is run by neurotypicals. The harsh truth is that the world is not fully changing to suit this type of brain difference. There are many people on the spectrum who are very gifted and talented. Autistic people need to believe in themselves and stop seeing themselves as being flawed. The changes and adaptations that autistic people need to make is for survival in a harsh world. Autistic people should not feel ashamed of themselves, and not over cater to neurotypical society and neurotypical people as the situation can become very abusive and about self loathing. I have two 'high functioning' autistic teenaged sons, and may be autistic myself. There are many high masking, high functioning autistic people as well. It is not easy whether you have lower or higher support needs. I appreciate your honesty about how difficult it is, and the massive adaptations that autistic people need to make in order to survive in this world. Remember, there are autistic traits this world needs to add to the experience, like strong focus and pattern recognition, just to name a few things.

I have autism and I had to attend behavioural classes when I was younger. I don't have many issues these days but I don't like talking about it with others.

As a parent of a non verbal autistic children, I would like to have a "cure" and I believe that in the future it will be, so that every asd person has the opportunity to live an independent and full life! You can say what you want but rocking and screaming in a dark room for hours is not a full life of an 5 years old children! They has to play outside, make friends and later experience love, but none of these gonna happen for someones on the spectrum. Those "lucky" ones who has asd but can understand this video and write a comment, they are ok and gonna be ok in life but for someones really would need a "cure"!

Does anyone else avoid topics of conversation with someone if you know they can’t understand?

I'm autistic l'll be honest it hasn't been esay I've been bullied a lot got called a lot of things been compared sometimes things feel meaningless i have a hard time understanding things i do try my best but things are never good enough no matter how hard I try sometime in the end it feels like it's all for nothing then when I fail again it's just constant shouting and I feel helpless and alone i hate being shouted at but I still try and I don't give up so my honest answer is try your best be your self accept your self for who you are your amazing just the way you are there nothing wrong with your just a little different and there's nothing wrong with that so don't give up keep on trying 🍁

We all have to adapt to this crazy world. It’s just harder for some, but some of them are pure fighters!

Yes, you can. Do not give up on your children. But, first do not poison them.

I can't imagine anything worse than to become neurotypical. They just pathologize anything different or smarter than themselves.

After I survive open heart surgery and recover, I’m going to learn how to be a speech therapist, for myself and my family. Thank you.

I’m looking forward to connecting with you in 2024.
