Nice! I like the clever re-jig on the main sheet and getting rid of the mainsheet traveler, with option for cockpit bed too 😊. Bless that mid-boom setup. What a labour of love it must be as you work to replace all that aging hardware. Sorry to have missed the big deck/teak replacement job but obviously there’s still lots of work to be done. I’m so curious about that windvane autopilot. Better than CapeHorn? Looking forward to seeing how you go. Cheers from Nanaimo.

Yes it's amazing all the work that goes into what are perceived as small modifications. Really satisfying when you finish them though! We were up till midnight a few days ago re-bedding our leaking mainsheet track that was leaking water onto our AC/DC panels. Its tight as a drum now, and the machine screws all have washers backing them, so I can sleep at night haha.

Fair Winds.

Bonjour, my name is François and I was born and live in Paris, France. Although I love watching videos of sailboats on YouTube, my project (planned for 2022) is different: I am slightly disabled, I will never be able to have a sailboat. But Europe is full of waterways like rivers and canals. In France alone, we have 8800 kilometers of waterways (5500 miles). We have 3 navigation permits in France: inland waterways, coastal and open sea. The coastal permit allows you to navigate day and night up to six nautical miles from a shelter, without restriction of size or engine power, and the inland waters permit along all inland waterways.
My choice fell on a type of trawler, a 12 meter (39 ft) Dutch speedboat. I have two requirements to buy this boat: that the hull not be made of steel, which will considerably reduce its weight, and that its engine be close to the end, in order to change the diesel engine to electric engine by solar panels . So I can start this Paris/Istanbul trip and return via the Mediterranean coast.
For more than a year, I have been watching Youtuber channels that teach me how to consider the maintenance and repair of a boat.
Sailing Magic Carpet: she is Canadian, he is Swiss. He received a solid training as a marine carpenter, and his Swiss origins bring him precision and love of detail. A must see before considering improvements to a composite fiber hull or woodworking.
My First Boat: a Berliner who bought a boat (of the type of boat I want to buy), and completely redid the interior. Patient, meticulous, he studies each development with common sense.
Foxes Afloat: Colin and Shawn. A couple of English boys, who have lived and traveled on British canals for 14 years. Little DIY (they buy their new, custom-built boat), but incredible scenery and Colin has an exceptional talent for filming, storytelling and editing the videos. For your viewing pleasure.
Sam Holmes Sailing: Sam is an American who has crossed the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific, he has become a real sailor and has excellent advice on navigation.
Sailing Uma: Dan and Kika. They visited a bit of the Pacific to try their hand, but also Norway and Scotland. Excellent advice for navigation (Uma has an electric motor), and impressive video filming work, which they explain wonderfully. They met in an architecture school, and what they did with the interior of their sailboat is incredible. Beautiful and practical, efficient and useful.
Odd Life Crafting: Duca and Roberta. A young Brazilian couple who completely rebuilt a sailboat in 2 years. Their "joie de vivre" is explosive (I know, being that happy should be forbidden). But they learned navigation.
And then there's Sailing Seawind, Sailboat Babies, Planet Becka, Wildlings Sailing, you the Becka family, and so many more.
Fair winds and fair seas to all, for our greatest pleasure!

Great video! It is awesome seeing you make the control center your own, looking forward to seeing it finished. Getting the deal on the wind vane was a stroke of good luck, definitely needed when on long passages with minimal crew. Looking forward to that install also. Take care, be safe and live life to the fullest.
