It's funny how as an audience we want variety, we want innovation, but the reality of a strategy actually overcoming the standard meta often requires it to be pretty oppressive and/or have an unfun play pattern. So I totally get Phreak's conflicted rating of a lot of these XD

He’s not wrong, G2 are (imo) playing League how it should be played.

You find creative draft edges that eastern teams are unfamiliar with and you exploit that uncertainty to leverage advantages in game (and for the rest of the series).

I’m glad we have fearless to ‘push’ this more onto pro players but do wish that it had happened organically.

G2 should be S tier, that was an absolute peak League of Legends when it comes to creativity. Phreak said that G2 is the most creative team ever and it's not even close, but the reality is that any G2 roster is not even close to G2019. Every single game they played was a peak creativity combined with peak performance. Well, maybe except last three of the season...

The problem with how Riot balances the game is that when you already have a mostly uncreative pro scene, if you immediately nerf newly found strategies instead of letting them refined and be figured out, you‘ll never have an evolution of League of Legends. Pro players time and time again get forced into old patterns and stigmatized ways of playing the game. hate it or love it, I personally find it pretty boring. Just let them cook. You have a new groundbreaking strategy? let it stir for a while. make these lazy pro players come up with a solution to the problem.

No, G2 is creative but they are no where near Moscow5. They created a new way to play LoL that was soooo creative and outside the box it forms the bones of how the game is played today. Riot was eye-opened by it that rules changed and evolved rules not to stop it but to harness it. And say what you want but the most creative and innovative player ever in the game was Diamondprox bar none.

"I'm a mage bot enjoyer" lul Is that why the bot is so dog right now? If I'm not mistaken, there has been a lot of controversy with phreak and his position at Riot. Lots of people claiming he bends the rules and updates to the game for his own pleasure and what he's into at the time instead of actually doing what would be healthy for the game.
